I'm Deanna

Cat Sitting in Beaverton, OR

Hello! My name is Deanna, and ever since I was a small child, I knew that I would grow up to work with animals. Having various pets of my own at a very young age, I independently provided care for all of their needs. The current ruler of my home is my beloved 16-year-old fur baby, Marley. He lives such a purrfectly pampered life that family and friends often joke about wanting to live as a cat in my home!

As an adult, my dream job became a reality while working for a local veterinary hospital, first as a receptionist and later as a licensed veterinary technician. Working at a busy small animal hospital has given me insight and experience in connecting with and caring for a diverse range of cats, including those with varied dispositions, temperaments, and personalities. I have since retired from the hospital, but will never retire from loving animals! I keep my technician license current and attend continuing education seminars regularly. Being 'retired' gives me the freedom, time, and flexibility to provide exceptional care for your beloved furry friends...

My love for all things feline, combined with my compassion and experience, enables me to provide the extra-special, tender, loving care your kitties deserve, as well as any medical or special attention they may need. My sitting style is to let your cat dictate what we do. I appreciate and respect each kitty's uniqueness. If they want to play, we'll play! Is snuggling on the couch more their style? I am more than happy to oblige! I mean, really, who can resist a good cuddle/purr session?! Are they timid, reserved, and shy? I will take things slow to gain their trust. I will never force a connection just to prove that I'm good with cats. They are, after all, the boss, and their safety, health, and happiness are my priority. Cats are unique creatures and must be treated as such.

I am very detail-oriented and will follow your directions purrfectly, and I'm happy to send photos or video updates during my visits. For extended bookings, I am available to water plants, retrieve mail, move trash bins to and from the curb, and perform other tasks you may request.

Please know that I will do my very best to be at your home at the time you have requested. I give each client my utmost attention while caring for their pets. Sometimes situations arise that take a bit more time than anticipated. I appreciate your flexibility and understanding of this. Know that I will always honor the amount of time you have requested and paid for.

If you will be providing a key for entry, please have it ready for pick up during the Meet & Greet. You can count on me to follow your instructions with precision and care to ensure the health, happiness, and safety of your home, pets, and property. I look forward to caring for your kitties and putting your mind at ease while you are away. My goal is to build lasting relationships with the kitties in my care, as well as with you, the people who love them.

Learn More About Deanna

What do you enjoy most about cat sitting?

What I enjoy most about cat sitting is bonding with the precious kitties entrusted to my care. I enjoy helping them feel safe and secure, cared for and loved, while their family is away. Receiving their grateful purrs, head bonks, and nose nudge kitty kisses simply warms my heart. I also enjoy discovering their uniquely adorable quirks and personalities.

How do you handle cats that are particularly timid or anxious?

This is my inherent gift. To begin, I honor their space and allow them to choose how we move forward with each interaction. I prefer to let them approach me, then I watch their body language, and when they are open to it, I slowly and calmly let them sniff my hand before attempting to pet them. I allow them to take their time becoming comfortable with me so they know that I pose no threat. I have found that, in time, even the most timid kitties will warm up to me. Many clients have marveled at this, calling me 'The Cat Whisperer'. Earning the trust of shy, timid kitties brings me immense joy.

Deanna was incredibly amazing. We couldn’t have asked for better care. We have two kitties, one who has anxiety and the other who is a senior cat with a heart condition. We don’t often leave them, and we were very worried about traveling due to our senior cat’s medical issues. We normally have friends look after our kitties but for this trip we felt we needed professional care. We landed with Deanna because of her vet tech expertise, we were so grateful to find someone with experience with cats with medical challenges. We left long instructions, and Deanna followed every aspect of our kitty care to a T. Deanna’s patient and loving attention made both of our cats trust her immediately. She was a pro with the often complicated medicine schedule for our senior kitty, she got the method down pat right away. Our usually anxious kitty fell in love with Deanna on day 1, we were shocked! Our anxious kitty usually takes days to come out from hiding, but thanks to Deanna’s gentle approach she was out right away playing and being loved on. Deanna knows how to engage cats on their own terms, going out of her way to give them the space they need to trust her and also finding kind and unique ways to bond with them. She went above and beyond, even changing the litter holder trash bag and taking it to the bins outside, which wasn’t in our instructions. Deanna is a total pro, we can’t recommend her highly enough. She transformed a trip we were very worried about into one where we felt relaxed knowing our kitties were in excellent hands. ❤️🙏🏻

Deanna is the best cat sitter! We were really concerned about our cat after we lost our older cat. They had been friends all her life and we were really concerned that she would be too despondent while we were away. Deanna went out of her way to make friends with our shy cat and managed to coax her with treats and play. Our kitty was much happier when we returned.

Deanna was absolutely wonderful and loving to my kitties that both of them love her, especially my shy kitty who always hid with stranger. She was also very professional, followed my long instructions carefully, and gave detailed updates and very nice pictures. I also love how she went above and beyond during her visits. She helped me moving the cat feeding section last minute, picked up the stuffs my cats kick down, cleaned the feeding area, and even took out the cat litter inside my Litter Genie. I was very at ease and very thankful knowing she took care of my cats very well. Thank you so much Deanna for all your hard work. My kitties and I truly appreciate you!

We are so comfortable leaving our shy and somewhat antisocial cat with Deanna. Her gentle effort to make friends helps our kitty feel much better while we are away. She always sends a little photo or video with a note, which brings us a happy smile during the day. When we get back our home is clean and our kitty is glad to see us! Deanna is the BEST cat sitter!

If it doesn't feel like a purrfect fit after a Meet & Greet or during a reservation, our support team is here to help at 1-844-Meowtel (1-844-636-9835). We'll take time to understand what happened and help you consider next steps, which could include help with a new reservation.

Every cat sitter on Meowtel completes a background check. Ask your sitter about a free Meet & Greet so you (and your kitties!) can feel comfortable with your sitter before you leave.

Cats are territorial animals and don't do well in new environments. The presence of other cats, dogs, and even birds in kennels or animal hotels cause an immense amount of stress. This is why Meowtel was created, so tailored in-home care is brought to you.

We recommend booking daily visits to keep your cats in their routine and help minimize feline anxiety while you're away.

Each visit typically includes: feeding, refreshing water bowls, litter box scooping, tidying up, medications, updates with photos, lots of playtime, and any special requests. Ask your sitter about a free Meet & Greet!
