What is your experience with cat sitting, and how long have you been doing it?

Lets just call it, 16 years. For most of my life, since I was a kid, I have had cats of my own. I have been pet sitting off and on since I was a kid. In adulthood, I picked up cat sitting for coworkers and friends. I just started doing cat sitting for clients around Bend routinely and absolutely love it!

What do you enjoy most about cat sitting?

I enjoy meeting new cats and learning from them. Every cat is unique and offer a variety of new experiences. I truly enjoy just sitting quietly with a cat nearby. If the cat wants to play, bonus! I love interacting with cats in many different ways and catering to their individual needs.

Can you tell us about your favorite cat sitting reservation?

A few years ago, I had the opportunity to cat sit for 2 balinese cats who enjoyed walking outside while on a leash or in a cat stroller. They enjoyed experiencing the outdoors in a controlled environment and I got to combine two of my favorite things: cats and exercise.

Do you have kitties yourself? What are their names?

I have two orange and white boys, Geddy (3) and Alex (1). They are so fun and chatty, but keep me on my toes.

What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a cat sitter?

Be very detailed in the care you require and don't be afraid the request is too much. I assure you, it's not.

What is your typical process for working with a new cat parent?

I prefer to do a meet and greet ahead of time. I would like to see the cat's environment as well as their feeding and bathroom areas. I like to meet and get to know the pet parent(s) as well and see what all is needed for my future visits.

How do you ensure the safety & security of the cats and the home while cat sitting?

During the meet and greet I will ask about where the cat is allowed and not allowed or if there are any concerns with items left out on the counter and plants. I will ask where the cat likes to hide in case they are not present when I arrive during the visit. I will also ask if the cat likes to be right at the door when I arrive for the sit visit. I make sure the key works ahead of time and will ask for any emergency contacts.

Are you usually available during holidays?

Yes, I am typically around during the holidays and can be available to spend time with your cat in your absence.

What is your favorite cat toy?

Laser pointers and teaser toys! My boys like balls and I enjoy tossing a ball with cats or rolling it to them to see if the bat at it.

How do you handle cats that are particularly timid or anxious?

I offer a calm presence and will never force myself on a cat. I respect their space and know it may take time for the cat to get used to me. I am comfortable with sitting quietly in the cat's environment.
