How do you ensure the safety & security of the cats and the home while cat sitting?
Safety and security is of utmost importance to me as a pet sitter. I am diligent entering and exiting your home, ensuring I have located your cats prior to exiting. I prefer to present a high value treat before leaving a home to know their location and ensure I can exit. I also check over your cats physical condition (if they allow handling) and notify you immediately if I notice any changes.
Are you usually available during holidays?
I am available most holidays. We rarely travel during the holidays and spend the bulk of them at home. I would be honored if you trusted me to watch you feline family members during the holidays so you can have peace of mind enjoying time with friends and family.
How do you handle cats that are particularly timid or anxious?
Patience is the most important attribute when getting to know timid or anxious kitties. I see this type of cat often in my rescue volunteerism and they are honestly one of my favorites, earning their trust and affection is priceless. I always allow the cat to set the speed of an interaction and strive to make all aspects of it positive. I often offer high value treats such a freeze dried fish and always Churu tubes. Even if a cat is not accepting of treats you can talk calmly and quietly to them. If there is a preferred toy that can also provide a positive bridge to a new person. I also recognize some cats prefer not to interact with new people, in these cases I still ensure I set my eyes on the cats to ensure health and safety each visit.

this has been my second time having jackie take care of my cats and she’s just amazing! i know my cats will be well cared for. She went above and beyond - clipped the cats nails, took the litter trash out, and gave me daily adorable update pictures. She even brought them toy mice! it’s always nice seeing and having jackie over!!

My husband and I were very nervous about leaving our kitties with a sitter. However, once we met with Jackie, our fears went right away. We knew that she would be the perfect fit! We left for vacation feeling relaxed knowing that they would all be in good hands. She was wonderful sending us updates during each day and our kitty clan made a new friend- even the shy ones!! I cannot say enough good things about Jackie! Even on her very first visit, she was somehow able to get my incredibly shy cat to come out of her shell — which honestly says everything. As a pet owner, especially with cats who have different personalities and comfort levels, that meant so much to me. Jackie was incredibly thoughtful, communicative, present, and genuinely outstanding as a person. She kept me updated, made me feel completely comfortable, and treated my cats with kindness and patience. She is also very relatable and easy to talk to, which made the entire experience feel so natural and stress-free. Most importantly, I felt completely comfortable having Jackie in my home and trusting her with my girls. It is clear she genuinely cares about animals and the people she works with. Jackie has an amazing gift of connecting with animals. She and my cat Cheddar bonded quickly. There are times when he can be shy but he took right to her: letting her pick him up and rub his belly. She sent me photos each day along with descriptions of their time together. She went above and beyond and brought a lick mat for him to try. I will schedule with Jackie the next time I am out of town.

Jackie was beyond amazing. She was so friendly and patient with my cats. She sent me cat pictures and updates each visit. She went out of her way to cut their nails and bring new cat toys for them to play with which was so unexpected and sweet. By the end of it, even my very shy cat had even warmed up to her. I felt extremely comfortable knowing my cats were being taken care of by Jackie and would absolutely use her again.

Holiday Surcharge
Due to high demand during holidays, sitters on Meowtel have the option to set their own holiday price increase, which can be found in the rates section of their profiles. If your reservation falls within three (3) days before and/or after a federal holiday, or on the holiday itself, a holiday surcharge, determined by your sitter, will be added to your reservation.
These are the date ranges in 2026 to which the holiday surcharge applies:
- January 1-4: New Year's 2026
- January 16-22: MLK Day
- February 13-19: Presidents Day
- May 22-28: Memorial Day
- June 16-22: Juneteenth
- July 1-7: July 4th
- September 4-10: Labor Day
- October 9-15: Columbus Day / Indigenous Peoples' Day
- November 8-14: Veterans Day
- November 23-29: Thanksgiving
- December 22-28: Christmas
- December 29-31: New Year's 2027

Frequently Asked Questions
Reservations officially begin at 12:00 AM in the sitter's time zone on the start date. Cat Parents may cancel within 24 hours of booking and receive a full refund, as long as the reservation has not yet started. After the first 24 hours, the following cancellation rules apply:
- More than 48 hours before the reservation start date: Full refund. The sitter will not receive any earnings.
- 24–48 hours before the reservation start date: 50% refund. The sitter will earn 50% of their planned earnings.
- Within 24 hours of the reservation start date (or after it has begun): No refund. The sitter will earn 100% of their planned earnings.
All refunds are initially applied to the Cat Parent's Meowtel Account Balance for use toward a future reservation or tip. Funds may be returned to the original payment method at any time.
Meowtel is a marketplace that connects cat parents with independent sitters. For eligible reservations booked and paid for through Meowtel, the Meowtel Promise explains how we support cat parents if something unexpected comes up.
If it doesn't feel like a purrfect fit after a Meet & Greet or during a reservation, our support team is here to help at 1-844-Meowtel (1-844-636-9835). We'll take time to understand what happened and help you consider next steps, which could include help with a new reservation.
Allentown cat sitting rates will vary based on the sitter's experience and services, but the average price is $25.00. Prices depend on visit duration (20, 45, or 60 minutes) and whether you need drop-in visits or overnight stays.
Every cat sitter on Meowtel completes a background check. Ask your sitter about a Meet & Greet so you (and your kitties!) can feel comfortable with your sitter before you leave.
Cats are territorial animals and don't do well in new environments. The presence of other cats, dogs, and even birds in kennels or animal hotels cause an immense amount of stress. This is why Meowtel was created, so tailored in-home care is brought to you.
We recommend booking daily visits to keep your cats in their routine and help minimize feline anxiety while you're away.
Each visit typically includes: feeding, refreshing water bowls, litter box scooping, tidying up, medications, updates with photos, lots of playtime, and any special requests. Ask your sitter about a Meet & Greet!

Jackie is the sweetest most knowledgable caretaker for my cat! I am normally very anxious about leaving my cat under anyone's supervision, but her responsiveness and genuine love for cats assuaged those worries entirely. Highly recommend!
