What is your experience with cat sitting, and how long have you been doing it?

I have been cat sitting with Meowtel since November 2025, but have been pet sitting for others (family, friends) for around 10 years.

What do you enjoy most about cat sitting?

I adore meeting new cats and learning their personalities. I like observing their behavior and catering each cat’s care to their specific needs based on said behavior!

Can you tell us about your favorite cat sitting reservation?

When my husband and I were still dating, his family would ask me to cat sit their old tabby girl named Gigi. Gigi was an ornery old woman who didn’t warm up to many people, but she took to me right away. Any time I would visit we would hang out like old friends. Gigi just passed this spring of 2025, and I carry her memory with me always!

Do you have kitties yourself? What are their names?

Yes! My husband and I gave two cats: an Orange Tabby named Alfie (4) and a Dilute Calico named Maple (5).

What is your typical process for working with a new cat parent?

I typically message a cat parent about any time constraints I may have with their request before accepting. Once I accept the request, I then like to set up a preliminary meeting to go over routines, preferences, and any other information I may need.

How do you ensure the safety & security of the cats and the home while cat sitting?

I will always make sure the house stays as it was left for me. This means ensuring all doors, cabinets, closets, and containers are closed properly. I will also make sure anything that cats may want to chew on or eat (that they shouldn’t) is out of reach. I make sure that the cats stay safely inside by locking the doors via whichever method the parents give me (key, garage opener, etc).

Are you usually available during holidays?

With about a week notice I am usually free for drop-ins on holidays! If you have any specific questions regarding this, feel free to send me a message!

What is your favorite cat toy?

I am partial to a spring toy, because they are most coveted in our household. If you look under our refrigerator, you may find a jackpot of long lost spring toys because our cats love smacking them around the whole house!

How do you handle cats that are particularly timid or anxious?

Going at the cat’s pace and comfort is paramount. I listen to their body language, let them make the first move, and keep my own demeanor calm and collected. If you are patient, timid and anxious cats will reward that more often than not.

Kristen was the perfect sitter for our 2 rescue kitties. I was very hesitant to leave the cats for so long as they are both rescues and have had me around almost literally all the time when I adopted them and they dont often leave the same area I am in, or at least the general vicinity. One of the cats immediately took to Kristen when she came for the initial "get to know you" visit, sat next to her, purred and was obviously very comfortable with her. The other cat is quite stand-offish around new people and usually wont show himself for a long time. I brought him down to meet Kristen and he did not run away as usual. He sniffed her and then lay down near her, obviously very comfortable with her. Kristen sent at least 1 "Daily Update" which included not just her daily experience but also photos and videos of them the entire duration of our absence which made us very happy and it helped to ease my stress over leaving them for so long. I recommend Kristen without hesitation and will call on her again when and if the need arises.

Cancellation Policy

Cat parents may cancel within 24 hours of making their reservation and receive a full refund, and the sitter will not receive any earnings. After the first 24 hours, the following cancellation rules apply:

Cat parents will receive a full refund to their Account Balance if they cancel anytime up to 48 hours before the start date of the reservation, and the sitter will not receive any earnings.

Cat parents will receive a 50% refund, and the sitter will earn 50% of their planned earnings if the cat parent cancels between 24-48 hours of the start of the reservation.

No refund will be issued within 24 hours of the reservation, and the sitter will keep 100% of their planned earnings.
