Hi! I’m a reliable, caring, and detail-oriented cat lover with years of firsthand experience caring for my own pets. I’ve had four cats throughout my life, including one with thyroid disease who required daily medication, so I’m comfortable following medication schedules and paying close attention to a cat’s individual health needs and routine.

In addition to my pet care experience, I serve as a Resident Assistant and President of WVU PAWS (the pet club at West Virginia University), roles that have strengthened my responsibility, communication, and problem-solving skills. I understand that every cat has a unique personality, and I take the time to ensure they feel safe, comfortable, and cared for while you’re away.

Whether your cat enjoys playtime and cuddles or prefers quiet companionship, I’ll tailor my visits to their needs. I’ll provide fresh food and water, clean litter boxes, administer medications as directed, and send regular updates and photos so you can enjoy peace of mind knowing your furry family member is in loving and dependable hands. I treat every cat with the same care and attention I would give my own. 🐾

Learn More About Lydia

What is your experience with cat sitting, and how long have you been doing it?

I’ve been caring for cats for most of my life. Growing up, I regularly helped my mom cat sit for family members and friends, which gave me experience with cats of different ages, personalities, and care needs. In addition, I’ve had four cats of my own over the years, including one with thyroid disease who required daily medication. That experience taught me the importance of following care instructions carefully, maintaining routines, and paying close attention to changes in a cat’s behavior. Whether a cat is playful and social or shy and reserved, I strive to provide patient, loving, and dependable care. My personal experience has taught me how to recognize changes in behavior, provide loving companionship, and ensure cats feel comfortable and secure while their owners are away.

What is your typical process for working with a new cat parent?

I like to begin by learning as much as possible about each cat’s routine and personality. I’ll ask about feeding schedules, medications, favorite toys, hiding spots, and any special instructions to make sure I can provide the best care possible. During each visit, I follow those routines closely while giving the cat the attention they enjoy, whether that’s playtime, cuddles, or simply quiet companionship. I also send regular updates and photos so owners can feel confident that their cat is safe, happy, and well cared for while they’re away.

How do you ensure the safety & security of the cats and the home while cat sitting?

Safety and trust are my highest priorities. I always make sure doors and windows are secure, carefully follow all care instructions, and double-check that food, water, and litter boxes are taken care of before leaving. Thanks to my experience helping care for family members’ cats and raising four cats of my own, I understand how important consistency is and know how to recognize when something seems out of the ordinary. As a Resident Assistant and student leader, I’m organized, dependable, and take responsibility seriously. If I ever notice a concern, I communicate with the owner promptly so they stay informed every step of the way.

Cats are territorial animals and don't do well in new environments. The presence of other cats, dogs, and even birds in kennels or animal hotels cause an immense amount of stress. This is why Meowtel was created, so tailored in-home care is brought to you.

We recommend booking daily visits to keep your cats in their routine and help minimize feline anxiety while you're away.

Each visit typically includes: feeding, refreshing water bowls, litter box scooping, tidying up, medications, updates with photos, lots of playtime, and any special requests. Ask your sitter about a free Meet & Greet!
