What is your experience with cat sitting, and how long have you been doing it?

I have been cat sitting since childhood (so, at least 20 years now!). I have cared for cats of all ages and temperaments. I am confident in assessing a cat’s needs, and I am attentive to any potential issues that may arise while their owner is away. I take note of their litter box habits, eating habits, and physical health. I am thorough in keeping their water bowls full and clean, litter box clean, etc.

What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a cat sitter?

Tell me what your cat’s routine is! I want them to be as comfortable as possible while you’re away, so I will do my best to keep things the same for them. What time do they usually eat? Do you feed them in any special way? What are their favorite toys? Give me as much detail as you want!

How do you handle cats that are particularly timid or anxious?

I’ve had a few extremely shy cats in my tenure as a cat sitter, and my greatest joy is when they finally warm up to me! But it can take a long time - sometimes only after many cat sitting sessions over months/years. I let the cat take the lead and show them that I’m a safe person by giving them space and spending time in the home so they can get used to my habits. What matters most is that they’re happy and healthy, so it’s ok if they don’t want to cuddle!

Cara provided such excellent care for our little buddy, Radar. From administering medication (sometimes multiple tries) to cleaning up after an unexpected poop, they were a gracious sitter and communicative at every turn. We appreciated seeing photos of Radar relaxing and more or less having a vacation of his own while we were away. Cara's experience with a vision-impaired kitty of their own informed how they approached Radar and it was a relief to us to know our sitter understood his needs. Happily recommend Cara to any pet parent in need!

Cancellation Policy

Cat parents may cancel within 24 hours of making their reservation and receive a full refund, and the sitter will not receive any earnings. After the first 24 hours, the following cancellation rules apply:

Cat parents will receive a full refund to their Account Balance if they cancel anytime up to 48 hours before the start date of the reservation, and the sitter will not receive any earnings.

Cat parents will receive a 50% refund, and the sitter will earn 50% of their planned earnings if the cat parent cancels between 24-48 hours of the start of the reservation.

No refund will be issued within 24 hours of the reservation, and the sitter will keep 100% of their planned earnings.
