What is your experience with cat sitting, and how long have you been doing it?
Besides having my own cat and caring for her. I have also cat sitted for a couple friends of mine. I would say the cat sitting has been happening for a few years or so. One of the cats I looked after is a very shy and timid cat, so I did what I needed to do of making sure he had food and water. Then I would just sit on the floor and he would slowly come out and sniff me and sometimes play. This taught me just being calm and present will make the kitty curious. The other cat I looked after he is so loving and sweet. He would just require pets. Sweetest old man ever. I feel two different personalities but I enjoyed both immensely and I feel I can adapt well to the different personalities that cats have!
What do you enjoy most about cat sitting?
Getting to meet other people’s kitties and see what there personalities are like. I love how each cat has such a distinct personality and I love to discover what it is and how to bring them the most joy based on what they like or don’t like. i also just love the company of cats!
How do you handle cats that are particularly timid or anxious?
I give them time and space. If they are curious I will let them smell me. If the cat is curious and engages more with me then I will move forward to see if pets are acceptable. If not then I let the cat be while I do what I need to do for there care. Meaning if a cat is particularly timid or anxious I will do the tasks needed to keep the care up for the kitty and then I will just spend some time on the space and see if the kitty comes to me. Having someone new in your home that you don’t know is so scary! So patience is the key!

Holiday Surcharge
Due to high demand during holidays, sitters on Meowtel have the option to set their own holiday price increase, which can be found in the rates section of their profiles. If your reservation falls within three (3) days before and/or after a federal holiday, or on the holiday itself, a holiday surcharge, determined by your sitter, will be added to your reservation.

Frequently Asked Questions
Reservations officially begin at 12:00 AM in the sitter's time zone on the start date. Cat Parents may cancel within 24 hours of booking and receive a full refund, as long as the reservation has not yet started. After the first 24 hours, the following cancellation rules apply:
- More than 48 hours before the reservation start date: Full refund. The sitter will not receive any earnings.
- 24–48 hours before the reservation start date: 50% refund. The sitter will earn 50% of their planned earnings.
- Within 24 hours of the reservation start date (or after it has begun): No refund. The sitter will earn 100% of their planned earnings.
All refunds are initially applied to the Cat Parent's Meowtel Account Balance for use toward a future reservation or tip. Funds may be returned to the original payment method at any time.
