Cat Sitter I Have Grown Up Around Cats

Cat Sitting in Providence, RI

I’ve grown up around cats my entire life and absolutely adore them! Being around cats of different breeds, personalities, and temperaments has taught me that every cat is unique and has their own needs, routines, and ways of communicating.

As a cat sitter, I’m patient, attentive, and gentle. I understand that some cats may be immediately friendly and playful, while others may need more time to feel comfortable with a new person...
I’ve grown up around cats my entire life and absolutely adore them! Being around cats of different breeds, personalities, and temperaments has taught me that every cat is unique and has their own needs, routines, and ways of communicating.

As a cat sitter, I’m patient, attentive, and gentle. I understand that some cats may be immediately friendly and playful, while others may need more time to feel comfortable with a new person. I’m happy to meet each cat where they are and give them the patience and space they need while still making sure they feel cared for, safe, and loved.

During home visits, I like to make sure all of a cat’s needs are taken care of — feeding them according to their routine, refreshing their water, cleaning their litter box, giving them playtime and attention, and following any specific instructions their owner provides. I also love sending updates and photos so owners can feel reassured that their cats are doing well while they’re away.

I genuinely enjoy spending time with cats, and I would treat every cat I care for as if they were my own!

Learn More About Rehma

Do you have kitties yourself? What are their names?

I have a Himalayan cat who is very timid and shy, so I’ve had a lot of experience understanding and respecting a cat who takes time to warm up to people. She has taught me how important patience is and how much you can learn by paying attention to a cat’s body language and personality. Because of her, I understand that being a good cat sitter isn’t just about feeding and caring for a cat — it’s also about making them feel safe, comfortable, and understood.

What is your typical process for working with a new cat parent?

Before my first visit, I like to learn as much as I can about the cat and their usual routine. I’ll ask about feeding schedules, litter habits, medications if applicable, favorite toys, personality, hiding spots, and anything else I should know. I also want to understand what the owner expects during each visit. During the visit, I’ll follow their instructions carefully and provide updates and photos so they know their cat is doing well. I believe clear communication and trust are especially important when caring for someone’s pet.

How do you handle cats that are particularly timid or anxious?

I’m very patient with timid or shy cats and understand that they may need time to become comfortable with someone new. I never want to force interaction or overwhelm them. I’ll give them space, move calmly, and let them approach me on their own terms while still making sure their food, water, litter, and other needs are taken care of. Growing up around cats with very different personalities has taught me to pay attention to their body language and adjust my approach based on what makes each cat feel safe and comfortable.

Meowtel is a marketplace that connects cat parents with independent sitters. For eligible reservations booked and paid for through Meowtel, the Meowtel Promise explains how we support cat parents if something unexpected comes up.

If it doesn't feel like a purrfect fit after a Meet & Greet or during a reservation, our support team is here to help at 1-844-Meowtel (1-844-636-9835). We'll take time to understand what happened and help you consider next steps, which could include help with a new reservation.

Providence cat sitting rates will vary based on the sitter's experience and services, but the average price is $26.00. Prices depend on visit duration (20, 45, or 60 minutes) and whether you need drop-in visits or overnight stays.

Every cat sitter on Meowtel completes a background check. Ask your sitter about a Meet & Greet so you (and your kitties!) can feel comfortable with your sitter before you leave.

Cats are territorial animals and don't do well in new environments. The presence of other cats, dogs, and even birds in kennels or animal hotels cause an immense amount of stress. This is why Meowtel was created, so tailored in-home care is brought to you.

We recommend booking daily visits to keep your cats in their routine and help minimize feline anxiety while you're away.

Each visit typically includes: feeding, refreshing water bowls, litter box scooping, tidying up, medications, updates with photos, lots of playtime, and any special requests. Ask your sitter about a Meet & Greet!
