I understand them. I think I was a cat in a former life 🐈.

What is your experience with cat sitting, and how long have you been doing it?
I have been cat sitting for 5+ years after owning cats my whole life. I have lovingly looked after all types of cats from rescues to Ragdolls, kittens to elderly cats with medical issues. I have cared for up to 4 cats at a time. An additional bonus is that I know a lot about cat behavior after working at the SPCA and learning much from the cat behaviorist. I also read a lot about cats. I have had two cats bite me during sits. I did not get ruffled, calmed the cats and helped the owners understand why they did it.
What do you enjoy most about cat sitting?
I enjoy getting to know cats and gaining their trust and love. I have always been asked to come back because the owners can see that I take careful and loving care for their cat(s) like they are my own. I travel a bit so for that reason, I cannot own any pets so my cat sits kitties are like my nieces and nephews. I tend to get attached!
What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a cat sitter?
My best advice is to read the cat sitter’s reviews. If you are unsure after reading them, then ask to speak to at least two former cat sit owners. Ask if they have repeat sits. This tells you if they did a great job. Be sure to ask if there were any cat sits that didn’t go well, and how the sitter handled it. And study their photos with cats. You can usually tell a cat lover from how they interact with the cat and if the cat looks happy and content.

Found Deb on Trusted Housesitters site and now she is my MOST TRUSTED sitter ever! She has sat for me and my cat Darth Mikey a number of times. She is reliable, responsible, clean, and communicates well-- just enough so I know Darth is OK, but not too much. Due to high demand during holidays, sitters on Meowtel have the option to set their own holiday price increase, which can be found in the rates section of their profiles. If your reservation falls within three (3) days before and/or after a federal holiday, or on the holiday itself, a holiday surcharge, determined by your sitter, will be added to your reservation.

Frequently Asked Questions
Reservations officially begin at 12:00 AM in the sitter's time zone on the start date. Cat Parents may cancel within 24 hours of booking and receive a full refund, as long as the reservation has not yet started. After the first 24 hours, the following cancellation rules apply:
- More than 48 hours before the reservation start date: Full refund. The sitter will not receive any earnings.
- 24–48 hours before the reservation start date: 50% refund. The sitter will earn 50% of their planned earnings.
- Within 24 hours of the reservation start date (or after it has begun): No refund. The sitter will earn 100% of their planned earnings.
All refunds are initially applied to the Cat Parent's Meowtel Account Balance for use toward a future reservation or tip. Funds may be returned to the original payment method at any time.
