What do you enjoy most about cat sitting?
Meeting new cats and experiencing all of their different quirks and personalities. It feels good to earn their trust and spend quality time with them.
Do you have kitties yourself? What are their names?
I have one cat, Orange Monster. He was a street stray in my hometown, where winters are bitter and deadly. We let him in the house when it started getting cold and never let him out. He has yet to forgive us.
What is your typical process for working with a new cat parent?
I like to get to know a cat parent’s routine with their cat(s), any quirks or preferences, and of course get to know the parent themselves so I can make sure they feel I’m a good fit
How do you ensure the safety & security of the cats and the home while cat sitting?
I have an escape artist kitty, so I’m quick to catch runners at the door and bar the exit. Mine is also a counter surfer, so I’m used to ensuring there is nothing precariously balanced that could break and potentially injure the cat(s). I will also lock up while I am in the home and when I leave, plus take any predetermined measures to keep the home safe in the owner’s absence.
How do you handle cats that are particularly timid or anxious?
I let them approach—or not approach—me as it pleases them and on their own terms. Chasing down a timid or anxious cat is only going to cause distress. If they do choose to approach, I meet them with positive reinforcement and try to develop the relationship from there.

Ryann was absolutely excellent! I have come back from trips in the past and my cats are all freaked out from the extended silence and lack of contact they were SUPPOSED to have from the cat sitter I hired. I came back after 5 days and after 2 recent even longer absences and they were like 'oh, you, hi. Is there food?'. So happy with that reaction. She also sent pics and videos and filled me in on how they were or weren't doing thoroughly every day. It was wonderful to have all that and be able to focus and not worry whether they were crazy bored or freaky. Honestly, Ryann was better than the college student who once just stayed at my house the whole week to watch my cats. I will hire her every time I can. She also went out of her way to both play with the cats and engage them, but also to continuously reach out to my one cat that wouldn't come out for several days. That meant a lot to me. I would also highly recommend Ryann for anyone with cats with certain needs or special issues. Her approach and detailed attention would be perfect for those cats and situations.

Holiday Surcharge
Due to high demand during holidays, sitters on Meowtel have the option to set their own holiday price increase, which can be found in the rates section of their profiles. If your reservation falls within three (3) days before and/or after a federal holiday, or on the holiday itself, a holiday surcharge, determined by your sitter, will be added to your reservation.
These are the date ranges in 2026 to which the holiday surcharge applies:
- January 1-4: New Year's 2026
- January 16-22: MLK Day
- February 13-19: Presidents Day
- May 22-28: Memorial Day
- June 16-22: Juneteenth
- July 1-7: July 4th
- September 4-10: Labor Day
- October 9-15: Columbus Day / Indigenous Peoples' Day
- November 8-14: Veterans Day
- November 23-29: Thanksgiving
- December 22-28: Christmas
- December 29-31: New Year's 2027

Frequently Asked Questions
Reservations officially begin at 12:00 AM in the sitter's time zone on the start date. Cat Parents may cancel within 24 hours of booking and receive a full refund, as long as the reservation has not yet started. After the first 24 hours, the following cancellation rules apply:
- More than 48 hours before the reservation start date: Full refund. The sitter will not receive any earnings.
- 24–48 hours before the reservation start date: 50% refund. The sitter will earn 50% of their planned earnings.
- Within 24 hours of the reservation start date (or after it has begun): No refund. The sitter will earn 100% of their planned earnings.
All refunds are initially applied to the Cat Parent's Meowtel Account Balance for use toward a future reservation or tip. Funds may be returned to the original payment method at any time.
Meowtel is a marketplace that connects cat parents with independent sitters. For eligible reservations booked and paid for through Meowtel, the Meowtel Promise explains how we support cat parents if something unexpected comes up.

Myrtle Beach cat sitting rates will vary based on the sitter's experience and services, but the average price is $23.00. Prices depend on visit duration (20, 45, or 60 minutes) and whether you need drop-in visits or overnight stays.
