I currently have a 10-year-old Siamese, so I understand how important routine, patience, and consistency are, especially as cats get older.
During visits, I handle all the essentials like feeding, fresh water, and litter box care, but I also focus on making sure your cat feels comfortable and not disrupted. Some cats want playtime and interaction, others just want a calm presence nearby—I’m good at reading that and adjusting.

What do you enjoy most about cat sitting?
What I enjoy most is getting to know each cat’s personality over time. Cats are all different—some are social right away, others take a few visits to warm up—and I like earning that trust at their pace. There’s something satisfying about seeing a shy cat become more comfortable or having a routine that helps them feel relaxed while their owner is away. I also enjoy the calm environment cats bring. It’s not just about feeding and cleaning—it’s about keeping things consistent so they feel secure. Being able to give owners peace of mind while knowing their cat is comfortable is a big part of why I enjoy doing it.
How do you ensure the safety & security of the cats and the home while cat sitting?
I focus on consistency and awareness. I follow all care instructions closely and double-check things like doors, windows, and food storage each visit. I make sure the cat is accounted for before leaving and keep an eye out for anything unusual in their behavior or environment. I’m careful about preventing escapes, especially with curious cats, and I avoid anything that could disrupt their routine. I also respect the home by keeping things clean and secure, locking up properly every time I leave. If anything seems off, I will make a proactive effort to communicate it as soon as I can so the owner is always informed.
How do you handle cats that are particularly timid or anxious?
I don’t force interaction. With timid or anxious cats, I let them set the pace and focus on creating a calm, predictable environment. I’ll move slowly, keep noise low, and give them space while still being present so they can get used to me. Sometimes that means just sitting nearby and letting them observe. Over time, most cats become more comfortable when they realize nothing in their routine is changing. I pay attention to body language and adjust accordingly. The goal is to make them feel safe and reduce stress while their owner is away.

Holiday Surcharge
Due to high demand during holidays, sitters on Meowtel have the option to set their own holiday price increase, which can be found in the rates section of their profiles. If your reservation falls within three (3) days before and/or after a federal holiday, or on the holiday itself, a holiday surcharge, determined by your sitter, will be added to your reservation.

Frequently Asked Questions
Reservations officially begin at 12:00 AM in the sitter's time zone on the start date. Cat Parents may cancel within 24 hours of booking and receive a full refund, as long as the reservation has not yet started. After the first 24 hours, the following cancellation rules apply:
- More than 48 hours before the reservation start date: Full refund. The sitter will not receive any earnings.
- 24–48 hours before the reservation start date: 50% refund. The sitter will earn 50% of their planned earnings.
- Within 24 hours of the reservation start date (or after it has begun): No refund. The sitter will earn 100% of their planned earnings.
All refunds are initially applied to the Cat Parent's Meowtel Account Balance for use toward a future reservation or tip. Funds may be returned to the original payment method at any time.
