What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a cat sitter?

It’s worth it to choose a sitter who sends updates, not generic pet-sitter photos, but actual notes and observations that let you know how your cat is moving through their day. Also! It’s important that you feel at ease having the sitter in your space! A good sitter notices things without being intrusive, like tidying up before leaving and making sure the state of the home is exactly as it was initially (or better). It’s also nice when someone is genuinely thoughtful about the practical stuff and notices things like water bowl levels, plant health, odd noises, an unlocked latch, etc. Someone who pays attention.

What is your typical process for working with a new cat parent?

I like to start by getting a clear sense of the cat’s routine: when they eat, where they like to hide, what comforts them, and anything that stresses them out. I like to check in with the parent about practical things like feeding instructions, meds (if any), quirks, etc. Before the first visit, I make sure we’re on the same page about keys, codes, instructions, and where supplies are kept. During the sit, I send updates that match what the parent wants, and I pay attention to how the cat is adjusting and accommodate as needed. My goal is to make the whole experience feel easy, predictable, and tailored to the cat child!

How do you ensure the safety & security of the cats and the home while cat sitting?

I’m careful not to leave anything tempting out like food, packaging, or anything a curious cat might try to investigate or eat. I also make sure nothing dangerous or noxious is accessible. And before I leave, I always make sure I know where the cat is. It’s just good to have a general sense of their location so there’s no chance of anyone slipping out or hiding somewhere concerning.

Cat parents may cancel within 24 hours of making their reservation and receive a full refund, and the sitter will not receive any earnings. After the first 24 hours, the following cancellation rules apply:

Cat parents will receive a full refund to their Account Balance if they cancel anytime up to 48 hours before the start date of the reservation, and the sitter will not receive any earnings.

Cat parents will receive a 50% refund, and the sitter will earn 50% of their planned earnings if the cat parent cancels between 24-48 hours of the start of the reservation.

No refund will be issued within 24 hours of the reservation, and the sitter will keep 100% of their planned earnings.
