I have more than 25 years experience caring for cats and share my home with a very opinionated rescued Persian and a shy flame point boy. I am available for drop in visits, love and playtime. I will ensure all cats in your home receive considerate care. I always try to find everyone and I am super careful that door dasg do not dash. I have a lot of flexibility in my schedule to do early morning, midday and evening visits. All my visits consist of feeding, refreshing water and scooping the boxes. Playtime always depends on the cats and I follow their lead.

Learn More About Melissa

What is your experience with cat sitting, and how long have you been doing it?

I have more than 25 years of experience caring for cats and have had cats in my home for more than 20 years.

What do you enjoy most about cat sitting?

I love cats. I love playing with them and nothing makes me happier when I am able to gain the trust of a super shy feline friend.

Can you tell us about your favorite cat sitting reservation?

My favorite visits are always though where the cats likes to engage...whether it is just enjoying each other's company or playing with their favorite wand toy.

Do you have kitties yourself? What are their names?

I have 4 cats: an opinionated persian named Mattie, a shy flamepoint siamese named Blaze and two ginger boys, Benny Goodmany and Glenn Miller.

What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a cat sitter?

Always do a meet and greet to make sure that you are a good match! Not every sitter and cat are purrfect for each other!

What is your typical process for working with a new cat parent?

I always like to schedule a meet and greet before the first visit. During the meet and greet, I will learn more about the cat’s habits and personality as well as their favorite toys and hiding spots in the event that they are a hider. Additionally, I will find out their eating, drinking and litterbox habits as well as any additional needs that they may have such as medications.

How do you ensure the safety & security of the cats and the home while cat sitting?

I always watch for any door dashers to make sure they do not dash and I like to visually see every cat if at all possible.

Are you usually available during holidays?

I am available most holidays. However, I will only accept as many clients as I can feasibly care for as I want any cat in my care to get the best care possible.

What is your favorite cat toy?

I love da bird or Chris the Cat toys. Most of my clients love them as do my own cats.

How do you handle cats that are particularly timid or anxious?

I always follow the cues of cats taht are timid and anxious and let them come to me.

Meowtel is a marketplace that connects cat parents with independent sitters. For eligible reservations booked and paid for through Meowtel, the Meowtel Promise explains how we support cat parents if something unexpected comes up.

If it doesn't feel like a purrfect fit after a Meet & Greet or during a reservation, our support team is here to help at 1-844-Meowtel (1-844-636-9835). We'll take time to understand what happened and help you consider next steps, which could include help with a new reservation.

Nashville cat sitting rates will vary based on the sitter's experience and services, but the average price is $26.00. Prices depend on visit duration (20, 45, or 60 minutes) and whether you need drop-in visits or overnight stays.

Every cat sitter on Meowtel completes a background check. Ask your sitter about a Meet & Greet so you (and your kitties!) can feel comfortable with your sitter before you leave.

Cats are territorial animals and don't do well in new environments. The presence of other cats, dogs, and even birds in kennels or animal hotels cause an immense amount of stress. This is why Meowtel was created, so tailored in-home care is brought to you.

We recommend booking daily visits to keep your cats in their routine and help minimize feline anxiety while you're away.

Each visit typically includes: feeding, refreshing water bowls, litter box scooping, tidying up, medications, updates with photos, lots of playtime, and any special requests. Ask your sitter about a Meet & Greet!
