What is your experience with cat sitting, and how long have you been doing it?

I have been cat sitting for various friends and neighbors since 2012. I fostered various cats and kittens through Austin Pets Alive in 2013-2014.

What do you enjoy most about cat sitting?

I love giving cats the attention they need while their parents are away, and I want to ensure peace of mind for the parents themselves. I have had to look for reliable pet-sitters for my own, very peculiar Machia and I know how important it is to find someone who makes it feel *almost* as if mom or dad never left.

Can you tell us about your favorite cat sitting reservation?

Too many to choose one but if I must pick, then it would have to be Rocky: the sweetest, 12-year-old boy who would rub his nose on my cheeks any chance he got. He needed medicine for his arthritis and allergies, but I never had an issue administering the meds to him. We grew really close and I’m so glad I was able to care for him ♥️

Do you have kitties yourself? What are their names?

Yes I do! His name is Machia, short for Machiavelli. He is a healthy, spunky, 12-year-old boy. He’s a grey domestic long hair with extra toes and extra sass ✨

What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a cat sitter?

Look for a detail-oriented, responsible, straightforward person whose policies include mandatory meet & greets: they should be willing to meet with you before the booking starts, getting to know your cats, their routine, and all their quirks ♥️

What is your typical process for working with a new cat parent?

Meet and greets are mandatory policy. I take my time to know the parent, listen to them, and understand their expectations. I am straightforward and will not hesitate to ask if something isn’t clear. I ask questions about their cats to ensure that I understand everything correctly and that my services go above and beyond. I make sure that the parents receive updates and photos during each visits. Having been in their shoes countless times, I ensure peace of mind for the parents by providing a top notch care for their cat(s).

How do you ensure the safety & security of the cats and the home while cat sitting?

I keep a close eye on them, especially if they’re a flight risk. I am careful to administer medication in a timely manner and pay attention to any changes in behavior. In the case of emergences, I’d call the cat’s vet immediately and notify the parent.

Are you usually available during holidays?

Usually, yes. This year, I won’t be available from December 21-January 5.

What is your favorite cat toy?

Cat dancer! It’s so simple yet so effective. It’s a huge success with my cat: he goes crazy trying to chase it around!

How do you handle cats that are particularly timid or anxious?

Cats are curious beings, but they can of course also be shy, introverted, and even anxious. With timid and/or anxious cats, it is important to give them space and allow for trust to build. I would patiently wait until they feel curious and/or comfortable enough to interact with me. I might gradually try to lure them with toys or treats but I find that what works best is to give them time and let their natural curiosity emerge gradually.

Altina was an amazing cat sitter! I highly recommend her help next time you need someone to watch your kitties. She went above and beyond in caring for and entertaining our two 4-year-old cats. She loved our outgoing kitty Ziggy and charmed our super shy kitty Star. I felt sure our kitties were well taken care of while we were away. We enjoyed the updates and the cute photos. Altina has been taking care our cat Luna since 2018. Luna loves staying with her as Altina is a true cat whisperer. For our summer vacations, or Xmas, we know Luna will be taken care. We particularly love the pictures Altima sends us of the enriching and game activities they do together... in fact I had to buy a couple of Altina's toys as Luna loved them! We usually drop Luna off and we go pick her up. At pick-up she does not want to be found ahaha! We are really grateful to have her as part of our furry family.

Cancellation Policy

Customers may cancel within 24 hours of making their reservation and receive a 100% refund, and the sitter will not receive any earnings. After the first 24 hours, the following cancellation rules apply:

Customers will receive a 100% refund to their Account Balance if they cancel anytime up to 48 hours before the start date of the reservation, and the sitter will not receive any earnings.

Customers will receive a 50% refund, and the sitter will earn 50% of their planned earnings if the customer cancels between 24-48 hours of the start of the reservation.

No refund will be issued within 24 hours of the reservation, and the sitter will keep 100% of their planned earnings.
