My wife and I are insanely selective about finding someone that will be as loving, patient, caring with our cats. Its stressful for them (and us) while we are away so we need a sitter that will do their best to keep the routine and keep things consistent for them…as well as belly rubs.
Cats aren’t dogs. We need a “cat person” who gets it... Hey there! I'm Casey, cat-dad extraordinaire. Finding a sitter is a journey, but it all pays off once you find the right one. I think the best way to help you evaluate if I’m a fit for you and your cat(s) is to share my perspective on when I have been in your shoes and what I expect from a cat sitter, because that’s exactly what I give:
My wife and I are insanely selective about finding someone that will be as loving, patient, caring with our cats. Its stressful for them (and us) while we are away so we need a sitter that will do their best to keep the routine and keep things consistent for them…as well as belly rubs.
Cats aren’t dogs. We need a “cat person” who gets it. Who doesn’t judge our highly specific instruction list because and they know that they are not caring for our cats, they are caring for our family members. Cat-people also understand that you gotta meet cats where they are and not force things. You are fine getting the hisses and the purrs.
Letting a stranger in the house is a big deal so I want to meet you and I want all three of our cats to give us the final paws up / down on whether or not you are a good fit 😊.
We need pictures! We send each other pics of the cats all day and have more pictures of them than us, so please keep us connected and updated.
At the heart of it is that I care for your cats like my own and I want you to travel with peace of mind knowing that your family members and home are in great hands 🐾

What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a cat sitter?
Ask exhaustive questions Explain the level of care you expect and get alignment on that Make sure your cat(s) get to vote on picking the sitter by how they react in a meet and greet
What is your typical process for working with a new cat parent?
Meet in person. You + me + the cats all need to be comfortable and feel like there is a good fit
How do you ensure the safety & security of the cats and the home while cat sitting?
Look for choking hazards and pick stuff up. Make sure they didnt break anything :) Triple check locking doors Watch my feet to not step on them if they like to circle you like sharks Inspect food / water / litterbox situation to make sure all the "ins and outs" are ok If multiple cats, check to see if bad behavior is coming out while you are gone
Are you usually available during holidays?
Typically yes. Christmas is probably the only holiday where I am unavailable
What is your favorite cat toy?
String on a wand. Brings out the hunter instincts :)
How do you handle cats that are particularly timid or anxious?
Dont stare em down. Give em space to come to me. Dont force anything. Im a stranger in their house and I have to remember that.

Casey was so awesome - we hired him again for a short weekend trip. He takes THE best pictures and it really cheered me up to see my cat, Merlin, so relaxed with his company. He really loves cats and is so responsive to update chats as well. We feel so lucky to have a person we can trust to be our cats buddy.

Casey was fantastic! I had never used a cat sitting service before, so I was very apprehensive about leaving my baby with a stranger, but Casey quickly eased all my nerves with his timely responses, lots of really great pics and vids, and detailed daily updates on how his visits went. He is very knowledgeable about cats so he was able to gauge how my cat was feeling each day and let me know. My cat has very specific feeding instructions and Casey was able to feed him with no problems. He played with my cat every day and gave him lots of love and attention. He even went above and beyond and helped me troubleshoot my security cam when it went offline while I was away! I highly recommend him to anyone looking for a cat sitter.

Frequently Asked Questions
Reservations officially begin at 12:00 AM in the sitter's time zone on the start date. Cat Parents may cancel within 24 hours of booking and receive a full refund, as long as the reservation has not yet started. After the first 24 hours, the following cancellation rules apply:
- More than 48 hours before the reservation start date: Full refund. The sitter will not receive any earnings.
- 24–48 hours before the reservation start date: 50% refund. The sitter will earn 50% of their planned earnings.
- Within 24 hours of the reservation start date (or after it has begun): No refund. The sitter will earn 100% of their planned earnings.
All refunds are initially applied to the Cat Parent's Meowtel Account Balance for use toward a future reservation or tip. Funds may be returned to the original payment method at any time.
Meowtel is a marketplace that connects cat parents with independent sitters. For eligible reservations booked and paid for through Meowtel, the Meowtel Promise explains how we support cat parents if something unexpected comes up.

Austin cat sitting rates will vary based on the sitter's experience and services, but the average price is $25.00. Prices depend on visit duration (20, 45, or 60 minutes) and whether you need drop-in visits or overnight stays.
Every cat sitter on Meowtel completes a background check. Ask your sitter about a free Meet & Greet so you (and your kitties!) can feel comfortable with your sitter before you leave.
