What is your typical process for working with a new cat parent?
When working with a new cat parent, I like to start by learning about your catās personality, routine, preferences, and any special care needs so I can keep their environment as familiar and stress-free as possible. Iāll ask about feeding schedules, favorite activities, medications, behavior quirks, and emergency contacts ahead of time. During visits, I focus on more than just basic care. I monitor appetite, litter box habits, behavior, and overall comfort to make sure your cat is doing well while youāre away. Because of my veterinary clinic experience, Iām comfortable recognizing changes that may need attention and communicating quickly if concerns arise. I also understand that every cat has a different comfort level with new people, so I always approach them patiently and at their own pace while providing regular updates and photos to keep you informed.
What is your favorite cat toy?
One of my favorite cat toys is the KONG Kickeroo because itās great for encouraging healthy play and enrichment. I love that it allows cats to kick, wrestle, chase, and engage their natural hunting instincts in a safe way. Iāve noticed it works especially well for energetic cats who need an outlet for play, but even more reserved cats often end up loving it because of the catnip and texture. Itās one of those toys that keeps cats entertained independently while also being great for interactive play sessions.
How do you handle cats that are particularly timid or anxious?
I handle anxious or timid cats with a very patient, low-pressure approach. I understand that many cats need time to feel comfortable with new people, so I never force interaction or invade their space. Instead, I focus on creating a calm environment, following their routine closely, and allowing them to approach me at their own pace. I pay close attention to body language and stress signals so I can adjust my approach based on what makes each cat feel safest. Sometimes that means quiet companionship from a distance, gentle play, or simply sitting nearby so they can build trust naturally over time. My goal is always to make cats feel secure, respected, and as comfortable as possible while their owner is away.

Holiday Surcharge
Due to high demand during holidays, sitters on Meowtel have the option to set their own holiday price increase, which can be found in the rates section of their profiles. If your reservation falls within three (3) days before and/or after a federal holiday, or on the holiday itself, a holiday surcharge, determined by your sitter, will be added to your reservation.

Frequently Asked Questions
Reservations officially begin at 12:00 AM in the sitter's time zone on the start date. Cat Parents may cancel within 24 hours of booking and receive a full refund, as long as the reservation has not yet started. After the first 24 hours, the following cancellation rules apply:
- More than 48 hours before the reservation start date: Full refund. The sitter will not receive any earnings.
- 24–48 hours before the reservation start date: 50% refund. The sitter will earn 50% of their planned earnings.
- Within 24 hours of the reservation start date (or after it has begun): No refund. The sitter will earn 100% of their planned earnings.
All refunds are initially applied to the Cat Parent's Meowtel Account Balance for use toward a future reservation or tip. Funds may be returned to the original payment method at any time.
