Itty Bitty Kitty Committee - Cat Care

I'm Regina

Cat Sitting in Grand Prairie, TX

As a lifelong cat mom, caretaker, and freelancer, I am here to help with the experience to do so!

I'm currently a cat mom to my senior girl, Bijoux (brown tabby). She's had a tough medical road throughout her life, and we've been through it all together from special food and amenities to daily baths. I also recently spent a decade with Kasha (dilute tortie), who struggled with extreme separation anxiety and PTSD. I worked very hard to help her manage and be comfortable and feel safe in our home. My cats are the joy of my life and it's eternally worth it to watch them thrive!

I adopted my first kitty friend at 9 years old and she was with me for 21 years. During that time, I also managed a feral colony in my neighborhood and felt very victorious with every T-N-R completed. I'm always so grateful when the patience and effort at winning over a new kitty friend pays off. I currently cat sit regularly for friends, clients, family, and neighbors.

Every visit I make during your reservation includes a full freshening of food, water, and litter box...

Every visit I make during your reservation includes a full freshening of food, water, and litter box. After that I accommodate any other requests you have and take a few photos of the kitties to include in my report that I will send you either before or just after I head out to my next visit. I spend the remainder of the time socializing with your cats at whatever their level of comfort is. If they are a scaredy cat or anxious, I respect that and let them choose how much interaction that they want. If they are a snuggle bug or love to play, then we're going for big purrs and the fishing pole game. I often use "floor time" when they are getting to know me, since I feel that getting down on their level helps them to feel more comfortable approaching me and let's me earn their trust. I've had a lot of success with scaredy cats this way! You never know, but it's always worth a try! If you have multiple cats inside your home that require "zoning" no problem! I'm well practiced at keeping different kitty groups separated inside the home when necessary and when this is the case, I divide the social time in the reservation between the different groups in the most appropriate and fair way possible.

I'm also very familiar with giving meds via transdermal application (lotion or gel rubbed in the ear) and pilling. I've also recently administered eye drops and liquid antibiotics dosed into the food. Of course not all cats share a docile personality, so success rate can vary, but I'm always willing to give it my best!

Being trusted to care for your pets inside your home is incredibly meaningful to me and I take it very seriously. My home is my castle, and my objective is to always serve with love and respect, and I will treat your home as I would want mine to be treated. I do my best to leave no trace and follow the protocols you've put in place to the letter. Please feel free to let me know if you'd prefer that I leave your kitties out of any social media posts I am happy to accommodate while repping for Meowtel. :)

I'm a thorough communicator, and I'm happy to comply with your preferences on how much or how little you would like to be communicated with while your pets are in my care. I understand that not everyone needs ALL the details, but some of us do. I'm a person who feels a natural sense of urgency where responsibilities are concerned and live by the motto, "Make it nice or make it twice!"

My primary job is owning and operating my own small business since 2008. I design and manufacture adorable (if I say so myself!) novelty soaps, cosmetics, and gifts, as well as all of the customer care and order fulfillment that goes along with that. Serving over 25,000 customers of all kinds in that time, I feel like I've learned so much about providing exemplary service, problem-solving, the benefits of being thorough, and of being a self-starter.

I also spend a couple of days a week caring for my elderly parents - attending to their errands, doctor visits, groceries, and general needs. this factors into my schedule, but doesn't cause any issue with my kitty appointments, and my schedule is fairly flexible. The area within my range includes: Arlington, Grapevine/Southlake, Euless/Bedford, Irving/Las Colinas, the more accessible parts of Dallas (anything off of I30 or I35 near downtown), and Grand Prairie.

Learn More About Regina

What is your experience with cat sitting, and how long have you been doing it?

I have been sitting for Meowtel since September 2022, and for several years before that for family, friends, and neighbors. I have owned and been responsible for cats of my own since 1989.

What do you enjoy most about cat sitting?

I absolutely LOVE being able to provide peace of mind to my clients while they are away so that they can enjoy their travels! I enjoy having lasting relationships with my clients, too. Not to mention CATS. 😺 I love cats the way some people love babies, and taking care of them and getting to intimately know so many is one of the great joys of my life. I'm so happy that my natural sense of responsibility has made this a service that I can thrive in and be helpful.

Can you tell us about your favorite cat sitting reservation?

It's very hard to choose a favorite, but one of my first kitty clients, Bubba, who has since passed away, had a very special connection with me. She was a glorious senior girl and LOVED to ride my shoulder. My only shoulder-riding cat, Nilla (I had her from my 9th birthday to age 30!) passed away almost 15 years ago, and it was SO SPECIAL to go see Bubba and after chores were fished I would carry her around the house and bounce her softly like a baby while we listened to audiobooks and it was so wonderful and peaceful, always. I miss her terribly, but I'm so grateful I got to know her.

Do you have kitties yourself? What are their names?

I do! Right now I am letting my beautiful and brilliant senior cat, Bijoux live out her golden years in peace as an only cat. Her sister, Kasha was a chaotic force of nature and passed away in 2023, and Bijoux is clearly loving her mellow independence, so my family is spoiling her rotten and lavishing her with attention at all possible times. She's obsessed with ice water, smelling all people food but not eating it, and loooong lap sessions.

What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a cat sitter?

Having someone care for your pets and house is a very personal thing, and you should feel comfortable in your relationship with your sitter. Don't be shy to try someone else if you aren't clicking with a new sitter.

What is your typical process for working with a new cat parent?

I aim to be very thorough at the meet & greet and assess their cat's temperament. I make detailed notes of every meeting to ensure I understand the cats routine, entry and exit protocols, client communication preferences, and any and all details that may help me up best care for their cats. I welcome contact from all clients at any time if a question or change arises and update my notes IMMEDIATELY when needed as to miss no detail, and refer to my notes frequently during visits.

How do you ensure the safety & security of the cats and the home while cat sitting?

All doors that are closed when the client leaves for their trip remain closed, and all safety protocols issued by clients, I strictly adhere to. I've known kitties that are elopers, plastic eaters, intense hiders, and general rascals, so whatever their owners tell me is the best way to handle their particular quirks is exactly what I will do, and if anything odd arises while my clients are away I contact them right away to either ask for their input or tell them how I'm logic-ing through a situation on the spot and if there is anything they would like me to do differently.

Are you usually available during holidays?

Most of the time, with slightly limited availability. I'm happy to share the details of my schedule if it will help a client make an informed choice. I am committed to accommodating my clients to the best of my abilities, a most of the time we can find a way. :)

What is your favorite cat toy?

I love to play fishing pole with my kitty friends! Also, whatever broken non-toy item that they've decided is their favorite toy. Lol!

How do you handle cats that are particularly timid or anxious?

I have a good record with scaredy cats, and have raised a couple, myself. I am very gentle with them and allow them to set the pace while providing soothing encouragement by talking to them softly and being present without being forceful. After chores I usually get down low with them on the floor leaving enough distance that they are not threatened, and continue talking and sometimes offering them treats or toys. I've won timid cats over in a day, a week, and in a case or two, months! One of my kitty friends hid from me for 6 months, but now we're BFFs with snuggles and chit-chat every visit.

Another super successful booking with Regina! She is so thorough, professional, and kind - and the boys always love seeing her! We encountered an unexpected power cut during our most recent booking and Regina, who had our spare key with her, made an extra stop back to our house to take care of some medication we had in our refrigerator. She did not ask for extra compensation (though we did pay her extra, because we really appreciated her willingness to help!), and we are super grateful with how readily Regina rolls with the punches if anything unforeseen comes up. She is always our go-to, and we're looking forward to booking with her again for our next trip!

I have had issues finding care for my older, shy cat. He requires medicine and does not like anyone who is not me. Regina was able to help him get his medicine, when no one else could. I appreciated the daily check ins and knowing he was safe. It made my work trip so much less stressful, which was desperately needed. She was also great with my more confident cat. Just an overall great experience!

Regina is such a lovely person! We hired her to pet sit for our cat who can be a bit of a rascal. He really took to Regina, and was running to greet her and following her every move. Regina sent us updates daily with lots of sweet photos. She took great care of Henri, and we couldn't be happier with her!

She’s so sweet with my boys! They really love her and it makes me feel so much better knowing she’s here when I’m traveling. She’s really on the ball when it comes to things like cleaning/ refilling the water fountain, emptying litter, making sure they get some play time, etc. Even my super skittish cat (who usually appears for no one) started becoming comfortable with her; that’s a big deal! Not only is she an expert with the kitties, she’s a pure joy to have around. I can’t recommend her highly enough.

Meowtel is a marketplace that connects cat parents with independent sitters. For eligible reservations booked and paid for through Meowtel, the Meowtel Promise explains how we support cat parents if something unexpected comes up.

If it doesn't feel like a purrfect fit after a Meet & Greet or during a reservation, our support team is here to help at 1-844-Meowtel (1-844-636-9835). We'll take time to understand what happened and help you consider next steps, which could include help with a new reservation.

Grand Prairie cat sitting rates will vary based on the sitter's experience and services, but the average price is $26.00. Prices depend on visit duration (20, 45, or 60 minutes) and whether you need drop-in visits or overnight stays.

Every cat sitter on Meowtel completes a background check. Ask your sitter about a free Meet & Greet so you (and your kitties!) can feel comfortable with your sitter before you leave.

Cats are territorial animals and don't do well in new environments. The presence of other cats, dogs, and even birds in kennels or animal hotels cause an immense amount of stress. This is why Meowtel was created, so tailored in-home care is brought to you.

We recommend booking daily visits to keep your cats in their routine and help minimize feline anxiety while you're away.

Each visit typically includes: feeding, refreshing water bowls, litter box scooping, tidying up, medications, updates with photos, lots of playtime, and any special requests. Ask your sitter about a free Meet & Greet!
