Care From A Cat Cafe Manager

I'm Cecelia

Cat Sitting in Houston, TX

Meowdy y'all!👋😺

I'm Cecelia, and I found my calling as a professional cat person while I was the manager at El Gato Coffeehouse in the Houston Heights. There I became an expert in cat care and fulfilled my dream of helping hundreds of cats find their furever homes.😺 Now, as a full time cat sitter with Meowtel, I am grateful to have a life filled with with so many kitties to care for! 😻

I like to meet each cat at their own comfort level. If your cat is shy, standoffish, playful, or cuddly - I will observe their body language and behavior to make sure they're safe and comfortable no matter what. Whether it's playing or cuddling or just chit-chatting while they hide, rest assured they will receive the enrichment that sets them most at ease...

Whether it's playing or cuddling or just chit-chatting while they hide, rest assured they will receive the enrichment that sets them most at ease. Your peace of mind and your cats safety are my top priorities!

I always send prompt updates with purrfect pictures and videos including a detailed description of our visit. I also help with regular house sitting chores, like watering plants and bringing in mail. It's important to me that you arrive to a clean home, so I make sure to tidy up during the last visit before you arrive.

The beautiful girl in my profile picture has crossed the rainbow bridge. 🌈 She lived with IBD, which is a chronic health condition that requires daily medication. So I understand how stressful it is to leave your special needs cat in the hands of a stranger. Rest assured that I am comfortable and skilled with several kinds of medication administration, and have the experience to your kitties at ease.

I also understand the grief of losing a cat and recognize how it changes the lives of their kitty siblings. I am sensitive to navigating that transition and can meet the needs of solo kitties who might be lonely without their friend. 🩷

Please note: I only accept reservations that allow me to visit the kitties at least once a day. And I care exclusively for indoor only cats! New clients must book four full days in advance of departing.

Learn More About Cecelia

What is your experience with cat sitting, and how long have you been doing it?

I have over five years of experience in cat sitting, providing drop-in visits and overnight care. I love caring for cats in the comfort of their own home and know how stressful boarding is. I take the responsibility of meeting their needs and maintaining their routines very seriously, and every cat I am responsible for has always received the care and medical attention they need even in times of crisis.

Can you tell us about your favorite cat sitting reservation?

I find cats that are initially hesitant to be very rewarding to care for. One little girl hid under the bed for the first booking, but was purring like crazy a few days later when she let me pet her. It takes time and patience to build trust with hesitant or scared cats, and it's wonderful when a scared cat warms up and accepts comfort. I can become fast friends with even shy kittens!

Do you have kitties yourself? What are their names?

Yes, I have one very silly cat! She is a tabby I adopted from the cat cafe named Soup. I took her home to recover from an illness and planned to return her to the cafe, but she became my “foster fail” as I couldn’t part with her. She loves to play fetch and can turn any trash into a toy. Her favorite thing is being held and bounced like a baby! She is a quirky girl, and always makes me laugh. I recently lost the loveliest cat named Nyx, who is the gorgeous Meowdel in my profile picture. She was very affectionate and loved to cuddle by my side, though she had classic Torbietude and could be grumpy if woken up. She had a very expressive meow and loved to chit chat. She is gone from this world, but forever in my heart. 🩷

How do you ensure the safety & security of the cats and the home while cat sitting?

I closely follow any specific security instructions provided by the client, such as setting alarms or managing access codes. I maintain a safe environment by keeping harmful objects, toxic plants and foods out of reach. I am always monitoring their behavior and health, documenting and communicating any changes with the owner. During hurricane season, I make sure to discuss an emergency preparedness plan!

Are you usually available during holidays?

Yes I am! I am available throughout the year, including the holiday season from Thanksgiving to Christmas and New Years. Please note that I get fully booked quickly during the holidays, so it's advised to book in advance!

How do you handle cats that are particularly timid or anxious?

I start by giving the cat space and time to adjust to my presence, avoiding any sudden movements or loud noises that might startle them. Creating a calm environment is key, so I speak softly and move slowly. I introduce myself by letting them sniff my hand and allowing them to approach me at their own pace. Understanding each cat's unique personality helps me tailor my approach to their comfort level. It's important to maintain their regular routines as much as possible to provide a sense of stability. Offering treats or toys as positive reinforcement is a tool I rely on to build trust. If a cat remains particularly anxious, I give them space and speak sweetly to them while ensuring that they have a safe, quiet space to retreat to. Regular communication with the owner helps me stay informed about the cat’s specific needs and preferences!

This month

Our cat has IBD and Cecelia has been a fantastic sitter! Cat needs lots of physical affection, canned food, and daily medication, and she delivers. She leaves diligent daily reports, notifies us of any symptoms of his IBD flaring, and we come back to a loved and cared for cat and clean home. Highly recommend , we're so happy to have found her :)

Cecelia is truly the best! She took care of our two cats for five whole weeks while my husband and I had to fly out of the country, and we couldn't have asked for a more dedicated, responsible and professional sitter! What truly set Cecelia apart was how she stepped up during an unexpected emergency. She proactively identified the issue immediately, assessed the situation, and contacted us right away with clear, thoughtful solutions. Being thousands of miles away, we felt completely helpless, but Cecelia completely took charge. She independently managed the entire crisis—transporting both kitties to the vet, coordinating their temporary boarding, and safely bringing them back home once the situation was resolved. She proved to be an incredibly reliable partner! Without her sincere care, swift actions, and incredible resilience, we wouldn't have known what to do. We returned home feeling so profoundly lucky to have had Cecelia for these five weeks. And of course, our cats love her so much, she took patience and bonded with them very well along the way. Cecelia is the one!

★★★★★ — Cecelia is the best We left Henry and Ruby with Cecelia for a week and came home to two happy, relaxed cats. Her daily updates were detailed and so reassuring — full of sweet little observations about each cat's mood that made being away so much easier. She read their personalities fast: chase-the-spring for Ruby, wand toys and cuddles for Henry, and gentler play on the nights he wasn't feeling it. When a thunderstorm spooked them, she dropped playtime and just soothed them instead. She also went above and beyond what we asked — keeping the water fountains topped up, organizing our food deliveries, and even watering the plants. The biggest tell: Henry is slow to warm up to people, and by the end of the week he was rubbing up against her for cuddles. We'll absolutely book her again. 💛

She was fabulous and also got our very shy cat to come out of the closet and play! Doudou never did that before with new people. Cecilia is the cat whisperer. Highly recommend!

Cecelia is the BEST. We just got a new kitten and she offered to help us integrate him with our resident cat. We were so nervous to introduce them and she helped us understand their body language, cues, and signs to watch out for to make sure they had a positive experience getting to know each other and didn’t cross each others’ boundaries. Now they are besties!!! Cecelia is so thorough, caring, and communicative and you can tell she loves what she does. Do not hesitate to book her for all your cat sitting needs!!!

Meowtel is a marketplace that connects cat parents with independent sitters. For eligible reservations booked and paid for through Meowtel, the Meowtel Promise explains how we support cat parents if something unexpected comes up.

If it doesn't feel like a purrfect fit after a Meet & Greet or during a reservation, our support team is here to help at 1-844-Meowtel (1-844-636-9835). We'll take time to understand what happened and help you consider next steps, which could include help with a new reservation.

Every cat sitter on Meowtel completes a background check. Ask your sitter about a free Meet & Greet so you (and your kitties!) can feel comfortable with your sitter before you leave.

Cats are territorial animals and don't do well in new environments. The presence of other cats, dogs, and even birds in kennels or animal hotels cause an immense amount of stress. This is why Meowtel was created, so tailored in-home care is brought to you.

We recommend booking daily visits to keep your cats in their routine and help minimize feline anxiety while you're away.

Each visit typically includes: feeding, refreshing water bowls, litter box scooping, tidying up, medications, updates with photos, lots of playtime, and any special requests. Ask your sitter about a free Meet & Greet!
