I understand that every cat handles things differently, and I have complete respect for every cat personality I encounter... Hello! My name is Kat, and I would love to take care of your cat (or cats) when you need help! I grew up always having barn cats and house cats around me, and although I don’t currently have one of my own, I have years of experience loving and caring for all types of cats. I have pet-sitting experience doing drop-in visits for households ranging from one cat to seven!
I understand that every cat handles things differently, and I have complete respect for every cat personality I encounter. I never chase cats or try to force them into contact with me; I prefer to gain their trust slowly and let them come to me when they feel comfortable. I always take the time to get to know them to make sure they are ready to become friends (because as we know, it has to be *their* idea!)
I am comfortable scooping out and changing litterboxes, and I understand the importance of keeping the litter area clean and fresh. Through experience with cats who have owned me (😉), I know they need clean bowls, fresh water, and that they will sleep almost anywhere.
On a visit, I will do whatever the cat(s) need as far as companionship. I’m content to sit still and just be there, or to toss toys and rattle paper bags for them to play with. Whatever your cat needs, I’m happy to provide!

What do you enjoy most about cat sitting?
One of my absolute favorite things about cats is their different personalities. Cats are so quirky and independent, and often their behavior is hilarious! I have sat for playful kittens, “teenage” cats, and extremely sedentary senior cats, and they all do things their own way. I’m always amused by the things they choose to play with; after all, why play with their expensive cat toys when there’s a perfectly good paper sack or empty box nearby? I love watching cats play, but I think my favorite thing is, when a cat really trusts me, having them sit on me and listening to them purr as they sleep. There’s just nothing else like it 😻.
Are you usually available during holidays?
I’m a retired educator, so I have the flexibility to take time off whenever I need to. Because of this, I make sure I’m available most holidays so people who don’t have that flexibility can take their vacation with peace of mind, knowing their cat(s) will be well cared-for while they’re gone. I’m a pet owner, and I understand the stress of worrying about my pet while I’m away. Cat parents can rest assured that they can relax and enjoy their time away if they hire me to care for their cat.
How do you handle cats that are particularly timid or anxious?
Cats should never be forced into interacting with someone, especially someone new. When I am meeting a cat who is timid or anxious, I move slowly, talk to them soothingly, and never try to initiate the first touch. Once I have finished cleaning their litterbox and making sure they have clean bowls, fresh water, and food, I will sit still and see if the cat will approach me. Sometimes it takes several visits for a timid cat to decide they want to make contact, and sometimes they never do. Either way, if a timid cat approaches me, I never reach toward them or try to pick them up. Contact has to be the cat’s idea, always! If I am visiting a timid cat multiple times, I have the patience to work on gaining their trust. They are always safe with me.

Holiday Surcharge
Due to high demand during holidays, sitters on Meowtel have the option to set their own holiday price increase, which can be found in the rates section of their profiles. If your reservation falls within three (3) days before and/or after a federal holiday, or on the holiday itself, a holiday surcharge, determined by your sitter, will be added to your reservation.

Frequently Asked Questions
Reservations officially begin at 12:00 AM in the sitter's time zone on the start date. Cat Parents may cancel within 24 hours of booking and receive a full refund, as long as the reservation has not yet started. After the first 24 hours, the following cancellation rules apply:
- More than 48 hours before the reservation start date: Full refund. The sitter will not receive any earnings.
- 24–48 hours before the reservation start date: 50% refund. The sitter will earn 50% of their planned earnings.
- Within 24 hours of the reservation start date (or after it has begun): No refund. The sitter will earn 100% of their planned earnings.
All refunds are initially applied to the Cat Parent's Meowtel Account Balance for use toward a future reservation or tip. Funds may be returned to the original payment method at any time.
