I have been caring for cats s... My name is Kayla and I live in New Braunfels. I am a homeschool mother of two teenagers and a tween. I also am child care provider at the local Unitarian Church in New Braunfels

I have been caring for cats since I was young and even rescued a kitten, raising it for weeks in my room before my mother found out, lol. I have a 10 year background in healthcare ranging from EMT to lead medical spa esthetician.
I have a flexible schedule and am available on weekends and holidays.

What is your experience with cat sitting, and how long have you been doing it?
In a paid capacity, I have been doing it long but as a friend and family member, I have been cat (pet) sitting since I was able to drive.
What do you enjoy most about cat sitting?
Getting to meet new cats and explore their unique personalities. Also I take a lot of pride and being able to navigate their specific needs to allow them to feel safe during a time that could be difficult for them
Do you have kitties yourself? What are their names?
We have 4! Cotton, Dodi-o are brother and sister, born on April fools day. Jiji and Nevermore and new additions to our home and are rescues. Jiji is 8 months old and Nevermore is 3 months old.
How do you ensure the safety & security of the cats and the home while cat sitting?
I always guard the door when entering of leaving. My too priority is to not allow your cat to get out (or to allow anything in for that matter) I carry a pocket flashlight at all times. I ensure I leave cabinets closed, and I check to make sure that if a door to a bathroom or other room that was necessary to access during my visit was opened, that the room is cleaned and door is closed before I leave. I ensure that if food or treats are secured. If there is a security system, I will ensure it is active upon my departure.
Are you usually available during holidays?
I usually am. As a homeschooling family we tend to celebrate around the holiday rather than day of. My family lives in Fort Worth so we sometimds attend Thanksgiving or Christmas there
What is your favorite cat toy?
Wand toys seem to be a hit with most cats. I especially like the metal wands because they spring back
How do you handle cats that are particularly timid or anxious?
I move quietly and maybe put a favorite treat near them before I go about my responsibilities. Eventually I'll sit on a chair or the floor and read quitely to provide a an opportunity for the cat to approach on its own. Or I'll gently play with cat toys to hopefully spark their curiosity

Kayla helped us with our three cats when we went on a week long vacation. If your reservation falls within three (3) days before and/or after a federal holiday, or on the holiday itself, a holiday surcharge, determined by your sitter, will be added to your reservation.

Frequently Asked Questions
Reservations officially begin at 12:00 AM in the sitter's time zone on the start date. Cat Parents may cancel within 24 hours of booking and receive a full refund, as long as the reservation has not yet started. After the first 24 hours, the following cancellation rules apply:
- More than 48 hours before the reservation start date: Full refund. The sitter will not receive any earnings.
- 24–48 hours before the reservation start date: 50% refund. The sitter will earn 50% of their planned earnings.
- Within 24 hours of the reservation start date (or after it has begun): No refund. The sitter will earn 100% of their planned earnings.
All refunds are initially applied to the Cat Parent's Meowtel Account Balance for use toward a future reservation or tip. Funds may be returned to the original payment method at any time.
