Cat Sitting in San Antonio, TX

Hello everyone! My name is Cynthia and I’m ready to be your kitty sitter! By day I work as a home health music therapist but outside of work, my passion is taking care of all cats alike!

Ever since I was a child, cats have always held a special place in my heart. I’ve owned a cat since the day I was born, and have spent most of my life volunteering with multiple shelters taking care of cats and kittens preparing for adoption. Additionally, I’ve spent the past 4 years assisting friends and families fostering special needs kittens in their homes.

For over 9 years I’ve cat sat for family, friends, and mutual friends including drop-in visits, overnight stays, and special needs visits. I have experience providing medications, both in liquid and pill form, ear drops, and topical ointments. I’m also open to learning other medication applications if needed to provide the best care for your fur baby. When completing visits I love spending time with cats by playing with them, making them feel comfortable and loved, and safe while you’re away. I make sure they are well fed, litter boxes are cleaned, and time is spent through playing, giving treats, lots of pets, and however else your baby is best taken care of. I also make sure to send updates after each visit, and take note of any changes in behavior or other areas to make sure they’re okay at all times. As a cat parent myself, I know how important it is to keep the line of communication open at all times to make sure your baby is okay while you’re away!

I love to spend time with cats, so as much time as you need for your baby to feel comforted and cared for while you’re away, I will spend making sure they are well taken care of.

I hope to bring you and your kitty the comfort and care that you both deserve!

Learn More About Cynthia

What is your experience with cat sitting, and how long have you been doing it?

I have been cat sitting for friends, family and mutual friends for over 9 years, including overnight stays, weekend stays, and drop-in visits.

What do you enjoy most about cat sitting?

I love getting to help owners and their kitties feel comfortable and cared for while away. I love giving them scratches and playing with them, and making them feel loved.

Can you tell us about your favorite cat sitting reservation?

One of my favorite cat sitting experiences was getting to take care of a friend’s cat for a weekend while they were away. This cat was very skittish and didn’t engage much in their home. But during this weekend, she played, was open to being pet, layed down in my lap and seemed to open up which was so heartwarming to see and share with the owner.

Do you have kitties yourself? What are their names?

I do! My sweet boy named is named Artemis, after the cat in Sailor Moon! Artemis came into my life in 2020 in the midst of the pandemic, at a time where I feel like I was at my lowest. He’s the most intuitive, vocal, playful, sweetest kitty I’ve ever known. I genuinely feel like I was chosen by him versus the other way around. He truly is my baby and I would do anything for him!

What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a cat sitter?

Definitely find someone who fits the vibe of you and your kitty/kitties! It seems pretty general but having someone who you feel comfortable with and you can see making an effort to get to know your cat is so important for building trust!

What is your typical process for working with a new cat parent?

I usually like to meet a cat/cats right away if it’s possible, that way they can get my scent and feel me out. Then I like to go through their normal routine of feedings, playing, treats, etc. Then I like to answer any questions about the process that they might have that we haven’t covered yet.

How do you ensure the safety & security of the cats and the home while cat sitting?

I try to make sure that cats are getting as close to their normal routine as possible, and go over with cat parents all of the ways their cat likes to be loved. This includes their favorite treats, ways to play, ways to be pet, and anything else to make them feel at home.

Are you usually available during holidays?

Yes! I’m typically available for most holidays in the year. The only holiday I’m most likely not available for is Thanksgiving.

What is your favorite cat toy?

The wand! I think it’s one of the best toys to engage a cat’s hunter instincts, and per personally connected to those instincts by being able to control where and how fast it can go!

How do you handle cats that are particularly timid or anxious?

I usually like to take a slower approach by seeing if a cat will be open to smelling me. If they aren’t ready for that, then I like to leave treats near them so that they can have a positive association with me and something tasty! I also will approach them slowly as not to be too intimidating or overbearing. I try to give them as much time and space as they need to come to me first.

This was our second time booking Cynthia and also the longest we’ve been away from our cats and she did a great job taking care of them! Cynthia was very communicative and always responsive to our messages. We reviewed some health issues to keep an eye out for on one of our cats during the pre-visit and throughout the stay Cynthia was great at keeping us posted on how the cats were doing and always included photos. We felt at ease with her staying with our cats and could tell they would get more comfortable as each day passed. We would definitely rebook Cynthia in the future and recommend her to other pet parents as well!

Cynthia did not fill up our cats' water fountains for the full four days we were gone. She brought in her own laptop and sat on the floor to do whatever she was doing. There is security footage of her laying down on the floor just on her phone. Granted at least she was in the same room as our four cats, but definitely not what I paid for. Not one toy was picked up by her, not one treat given, she didn't even feed them the first morning since she was too busy on her laptop. It is in my profile that we have security cameras, but my advice to Cynthia is to ALWAYS act like you can be seen while in other peoples homes.

Cynthia came over to meet my cat, Chunky Monkey, before I left on my trip. He doesn’t normally allow a new person to come near him, but Cynthia got down on the floor, offered him her hand and he immediately took to her. She did a GREAT job and it made my vacation so much better knowing he was in loving hands. Thank you Cynthia!!

Cynthia was great with caring for our cats. She was willing and able to administer medication to one of our kitties. The house and cats were in perfect condition when we got home. I would definitely recommend and will gladly reach out to her in the future for help with our cats.

This was my first time ever leaving my kitties to be watched by a stranger and Cynthia was the best person I could’ve ever hired! She made me feel really at ease with her frequent communication, feedback on kitties behaviors during her visit, and the photos were so cute. I plan on hiring her again for more drop-ins, then will eventually work my way up to an overnight so I can finally take away trips lol

Meowtel is a marketplace that connects cat parents with independent sitters. For eligible reservations booked and paid for through Meowtel, the Meowtel Promise explains how we support cat parents if something unexpected comes up.

If it doesn't feel like a purrfect fit after a Meet & Greet or during a reservation, our support team is here to help at 1-844-Meowtel (1-844-636-9835). We'll take time to understand what happened and help you consider next steps, which could include help with a new reservation.

San Antonio cat sitting rates will vary based on the sitter's experience and services, but the average price is $24.00. Prices depend on visit duration (20, 45, or 60 minutes) and whether you need drop-in visits or overnight stays.

Every cat sitter on Meowtel completes a background check. Ask your sitter about a free Meet & Greet so you (and your kitties!) can feel comfortable with your sitter before you leave.

Cats are territorial animals and don't do well in new environments. The presence of other cats, dogs, and even birds in kennels or animal hotels cause an immense amount of stress. This is why Meowtel was created, so tailored in-home care is brought to you.

We recommend booking daily visits to keep your cats in their routine and help minimize feline anxiety while you're away.

Each visit typically includes: feeding, refreshing water bowls, litter box scooping, tidying up, medications, updates with photos, lots of playtime, and any special requests. Ask your sitter about a free Meet & Greet!
