Hello! My name is Riley. I am currently a college student, but always love having the pleasure of helping out with a little furry friend! Not only am I a qualified cat sitter, I have been nurturing and caring for cats since I was a little kid with my first cat. I have experience with cats, dogs, fish, birds, and genuinely love animals. I have 4 domestic cats at home and countless stray cats that I help take care of as well! Even though these animals are mind controllers and free load in my house, they are experts at it. What is your experience with cat sitting, and how long have you been doing it?

I have been taking care of cats all of my life. From kittens to seniors, domestics, strays, and barn cats. I truly love animals and do the best of my ability to help and care for their wellbeing. I’ve worked with other pet sitting apps, worked for a pet sitting company, and was trained in Wolf Sanctuary care. I’ve been cat sitting for years. Not only have I learned various cat languages, but the languages of the cat parent. I want to help soothe their worries and care for their cat as if they were my own.

Can you tell us about your favorite cat sitting reservation?

One of my first kitties that I baby sat; she was very frustrated. It took time to help her relax and solving her stressor for her to finally let her guard down. Of course she had always known me, but day after day, week after week, she would get closer. This sweet girl went from growling at my proximity and running away, to head butting my legs, rubbing against my arms, climbing into my lap, and giving my kisses!! It was a beautiful and happy shift for her because I can tell she felt so much better with herself and me. I was already overjoyed when she let me pet her from head to tail for the first time. This cat has a special place in my heart!

How do you handle cats that are particularly timid or anxious?

Space. Lots of space. It is very natural for a cat to be nervous of people and situations. When a cat is hiding, watching me, distant, and/or being vocal I give them their distance. This can give them a feel of control that comforts them. I put on soft music so it isn’t so silent and I turn of the lights. To prevent further anxiety, I don’t make loud or quick noises/movements. I stop what I am doing and try to comfort the cat. Whether it is giving them space and checking on them or providing soothing pets/brushes. I also lay out some blankets and set out their favorite toys.

Cancellation Policy

Customers may cancel within 24 hours of making their reservation and receive a 100% refund and the sitter will not receive any earnings. After the first 24 hours, the following cancellation rules apply:

Customers will receive a 100% refund to their Account Balance if they cancel anytime up to 48 hours before the start date of the reservation and the sitter will not receive any earnings.

Customers will receive a 50% refund and the sitter will earn 50% of their planned earnings if the customer cancels between 24-48 hours of the start of the reservation.

No refund will be issued within 24 hours of the reservation and the sitter will keep 100% of their planned earnings.

For reservations where each visit is at or above $20 and paid for through Meowtel, your cat(s) will automatically be covered under our insurance policy in the event that things don't go as planned.
