I have experience giving liquid medications, pills/tablets, applying topical ointments, and administering an inhaler. I understand the importance of playing with your cat and helping them feel comfortable in their routine while you are away... Greetings! My name is Emily (she/they) and I am a young professional located in the Central City area of Salt Lake City. I'm a queer Taurus sun who enjoys houseplants (would be happy to water yours if needed), having a cup of tea, and taking my cat Bagheera for walks in his stroller.
I have experience giving liquid medications, pills/tablets, applying topical ointments, and administering an inhaler. I understand the importance of playing with your cat and helping them feel comfortable in their routine while you are away. Some activities I do with my own cats and would love to share with yours are playing with wand toys, tossing a toy mouse around, petting and brushing, clicker training, giving treats, and snuggling. I have experience as a volunteer at Kitty City at the Humane Society of Utah, fostering and volunteering with Best Friends Animal Society, and cat sitting for friends.
I am available as early as 8am for your kitty's breakfast, and as late as 8pm for dinner and bedtime wind down. I am not available for overnight stays. I also cannot provide service in homes of individuals who smoke. I service the Downtown, Avenues, Capitol Hill, Marmalade, East Central, Sugar House, Liberty Wells, Ballpark and South Salt Lake neighborhoods. I would love to meet your cat(s) and be their companion while you are away!

What is your experience with cat sitting, and how long have you been doing it?
I have been cat sitting with Meowtel for nearly 5 years! Prior to that, I was cat sitting for friends and family casually for 3 years and have had cats of my own the majority of my life.
What do you enjoy most about cat sitting?
I love getting to know the kitties and their silly little quirks! Maybe they prefer drinking from the bathroom faucet or only eat wet food if it's on a certain dish. Maybe they don't like their bums scratched but love their cheeks rubbed. I love these kinds of details because it reminds me just how unique and exciting cats are! They're weird little creatures and I love them all.
Do you have kitties yourself? What are their names?
Yes! I have a 14 year old floofy black cat named Bagheera. He knows how to give high fives 😹
How do you handle cats that are particularly timid or anxious?
My method for meeting any new cat is to offer my hand to smell first. If they seem uncomfortable, I crouch down to their level and avoid making eye contact. I allow any cats that seem particularly timid or anxious to assert their boundaries and I respect them. I understand that I am a stranger in their territory and they don't owe me affection.

Emily gave us peace of mind during a long family vacation. She is very gifted with cats and can perceive the needs of each individual. Her updates are detailed to the point where you feel connected to your pets and how they are feeling each day. Our cats are quite nervous when we’re away but Emily was able to build trust and coax them out of hiding for pets, brushing, treats, and play. She even suggested we send some voice recordings to play for them to help soothe their separation anxiety. Emily is very observant and asks questions when things come up. I would absolutely trust her judgement in any sort of emergency situation, which of course did not happen, but is always in the realm of possibility with animals. We could tell that they had received love and attention upon arriving home. This level of service goes way above and beyond simply feeding and scooping and is worth every penny. We felt lucky to have her service for such a long duration and would recommend her to anyone.

Emily is an excellent cat sitter. My cat can be pretty shy but Emily took the time and effort to become friendly with her, play with her and pet her when all I expected Emily to do was ensure she had food/water. Emily went far and above expectations. Additionally, there was a miscommunication that resulted in an unexpected car in my driveway. Emily was beyond patient and understanding as I figured out who's car it was to ensure that Emily could safely enter the house. I cannot recommend Emily enough.

Due to high demand during holidays, sitters on Meowtel have the option to set their own holiday price increase, which can be found in the rates section of their profiles. If your reservation falls within three (3) days before and/or after a federal holiday, or on the holiday itself, a holiday surcharge, determined by your sitter, will be added to your reservation.

Frequently Asked Questions
Reservations officially begin at 12:00 AM in the sitter's time zone on the start date. Cat Parents may cancel within 24 hours of booking and receive a full refund, as long as the reservation has not yet started. After the first 24 hours, the following cancellation rules apply:
- More than 48 hours before the reservation start date: Full refund. The sitter will not receive any earnings.
- 24–48 hours before the reservation start date: 50% refund. The sitter will earn 50% of their planned earnings.
- Within 24 hours of the reservation start date (or after it has begun): No refund. The sitter will earn 100% of their planned earnings.
All refunds are initially applied to the Cat Parent's Meowtel Account Balance for use toward a future reservation or tip. Funds may be returned to the original payment method at any time.
Meowtel is a marketplace that connects cat parents with independent sitters. For eligible reservations booked and paid for through Meowtel, the Meowtel Promise explains how we support cat parents if something unexpected comes up.

Salt Lake City cat sitting rates will vary based on the sitter's experience and services, but the average price is $25.00. Prices depend on visit duration (20, 45, or 60 minutes) and whether you need drop-in visits or overnight stays.
Every cat sitter on Meowtel completes a background check. Ask your sitter about a Meet & Greet so you (and your kitties!) can feel comfortable with your sitter before you leave.
Cats are territorial animals and don't do well in new environments. The presence of other cats, dogs, and even birds in kennels or animal hotels cause an immense amount of stress. This is why Meowtel was created, so tailored in-home care is brought to you.
We recommend booking daily visits to keep your cats in their routine and help minimize feline anxiety while you're away.

Emily really has that magnetic energy that cats are so charmed by. She met our furballs and was immediately in an approachable posture that they were enticed by. She took excellent care of all our kitties, their spaces, and our home. Great updates and communication, and bonus points for giving special attention to our two shy babies who hid most of her visit. They still got treats and gentle interaction, and when we got home everyone was VERY cheerful and calm. Thanks for helping us maintain the routine that keeps our babies happy!

My cat has some health issues, and can get stressed with change. I didn't have to worry with Emily watching him. She handled his meds with care and gave him lots of attention. I came home to a very happy cat. I also really appreciated getting updates of how he was doing each day.

Emily was so great! My cats both love people and attention, and I always get anxious when I go out of town that they get lonely or bored. Emily made sure to spend active, quality time with them during her visits so they felt loved and stimulated and she sent me photos & updates each time, which really helped me feel assured me that they were in great hands.
