Cat Sitting in Salt Lake City, UT

Hi! I’m new to the app as of Jan 2026 but a veteran cat sitter 😊 Thank you for considering me!

* I do check ins, overnights, scoop litter, feed, play/socialize, bring in packages, water plants, send lots of updates and set up cat towers/trees. I’m here at your service to make your time away as pleasant as possible.

I make it easy for my clients. Usually they provide a list of daily instructions and care, and I follow them to a T. If you want pics and vid updates, I love sending them. If this is your first time enlisting a sitter; I help guide you through the process and we’ll set up a game plan together 🫔 I’m calm, patient and I notice new cats typically warm up to me fairly quick.

Animal care is my life, I love meeting new friends both hooman and four legged šŸ˜Ž. Some of my closest friends have been met through sitting and volunteering. It’s so fun connecting with animals and building a trusting relationship. I’ve been an animal advocate and volunteer here in the valley for most of my adult life;...

Animal care is my life, I love meeting new friends both hooman and four legged šŸ˜Ž. Some of my closest friends have been met through sitting and volunteering. It’s so fun connecting with animals and building a trusting relationship. I’ve been an animal advocate and volunteer here in the valley for most of my adult life; and have cared for animals both in cat sitting and volunteering for the last 10 years.

A bit about me and my experience, training and skills. I’m a US Army Veteran, grew up in Utah County, and have lived in the Salt Lake Valley the last 25+ years. I’ve fostered exactly 99 animals to date, primarily kittens, senior cats, and hospice cats. I do freedom transports for non profits in the area, and am an active member in Utah animal advocacy/rescue groups on social media.

My training with Best Friends Animal Society: I was trained when they had the 24/7 Kitten Nursey on the corner of West Temple and Crystal Ave: in neonatal care, contagion control (preventing the spread of transmitted diseases), administering IV’s and oral medications, and have expressed bladders for cats with paralysis. I also took classes on fostering, volunteering and safe transport practices.

My training and experience with Whiskers: I was a foster for senior and hospice cats; I administered IV’s, oral medications, socialized, TNR’d, applied ointments, and was trained in safe transport practices.

(* I am currently enrolled in Pet First Aid and CPR and will be certified in the near future)

I’m also a community cat caregiver! I take care of my own community of feral cats; I (TNR) trap, spay/nueter, vaccinate - and nightly I visit them and feed them.

And my little family: I have 4 cats and 1 dog. All rescues, and my most recent adopted kitty is Sweetie - I rescued her from the cat colony I care for! She’s a one-eyed, polydactyl runt that I’m in love with!

Don’t hesitate to reach out with any questions. I’m friendly, easy to get along with, and love talking about animals all the time lol! Thanks again for considering me as your sitter.

Learn More About Carlos

What is your experience with cat sitting, and how long have you been doing it?

At the very least I’ve officially cat/house sit for the last 10 years consistently. But I imagine I have well over 15-20 plus years total experience cat sitting someone else’s family members.

What do you enjoy most about cat sitting?

All of it. Meeting new people, making new cat friends, the connections, the networking…Animal advocacy is my life. I love helping animals and their parents feel safe and secure when they’re away from each other. And TONS of updates, pics and vids!! šŸ˜ŠšŸ’™

What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a cat sitter?

Don’t ever settle! Ask the tough questions, do due diligence; I think sitters should be open to communication and feedback to allow the best experience.

What is your typical process for working with a new cat parent?

I love meeting new parents and hearing about the personalities of their cats, likes/dislikes, routine, etc… I love communicating well, and getting the instructions and details accurate. I’ve been in their shoes before and want to go out of my way to make the cat parent as comfortable as possible.

How do you ensure the safety & security of the cats and the home while cat sitting?

I always practice proper inspections and contagion control. Meaning, I inspect the area to make sure nothing was left out inadvertently, I make sure there is no plants, cleaning products, etc., or anything that could be deemed toxic. I verify I have proper contact information for the cat parents, the emergency contacts, and Vet/ER.

Are you usually available during holidays?

Yes, I am available nearly all holidays. Also available during summer vacations, spring break, extended stays, transports, check ins, and overnights.

How do you handle cats that are particularly timid or anxious?

Patience!!! I love my shy kitties, I have two of my own. I know to give them their space, soft, calm, voices, and no sudden movements. If they’re like my Chi kitties and have their own little hiding spots, I leave them be and don’t invade their space so they remain feeling comfortable and safe while I’m there. And usually if I handle one of their toys and then just leave it on the ground near them, sometimes they can associate my scent with a happy familiar object (toy).

This month

We are new to the area and were looking for someone to care for the stray cat we found living on our property for the weekend while we were away. We were initially impressed with Carlos’ resume, experience, and prompt response time. Once Carlos confirmed to help care for our kitty, he was quick to reply to us, give timely updates, and he even checked in the day before we left if we needed anything. As for our newly found cat, Sandy Cohen, Carlos was able to get her to warm up to him right away and let her know she was safe, cared for, and loved, even though we were gone. He sent us updates during the visit about everything, as well as pictures and videos. He did everything as asked. It proved he genuinely cares for your kitty and has a gift with shy/stray animals to have them warm up to him right away. Overall, we were very beyond happy with our experience and would highly recommend Carlos to anyone looking for cat care. We plan on be returning clients in the future should any care needs arise.

We had an excellent experience with Carlos as our cat sitter. Our cat is quite shy around new people, but he warmed right up to Carlos and clearly felt comfortable with him. He also requires daily medication, which has made finding a reliable sitter very challenging in the past. Carlos handled his meds perfectly and without any issues. He sent regular updates and photos throughout our trip, which helped us relax and enjoy our time away. When we returned home, our cat was noticeably happier and more relaxed than in the past. We couldn’t recommend Carlos enough. If you have a cat (especially one with special needs), you’re in great hands with him!

If you are looking for a cat sitter in SLC, Carlos is the best choice. He treated our cats like one of his own, took care of their medications, and gave them ample love. Each visit, he would send pictures, videos, and updates for us. This was our visit time traveling since our elder cat has required more help, Carlos put all that anxiety to rest. We will be booking with him in the future, and I encourage you to trust him with your cats!

Meowtel is a marketplace that connects cat parents with independent sitters. For eligible reservations booked and paid for through Meowtel, the Meowtel Promise explains how we support cat parents if something unexpected comes up.

If it doesn't feel like a purrfect fit after a Meet & Greet or during a reservation, our support team is here to help at 1-844-Meowtel (1-844-636-9835). We'll take time to understand what happened and help you consider next steps, which could include help with a new reservation.

Salt Lake City cat sitting rates will vary based on the sitter's experience and services, but the average price is $25.00. Prices depend on visit duration (20, 45, or 60 minutes) and whether you need drop-in visits or overnight stays.

Every cat sitter on Meowtel completes a background check. Ask your sitter about a free Meet & Greet so you (and your kitties!) can feel comfortable with your sitter before you leave.

Cats are territorial animals and don't do well in new environments. The presence of other cats, dogs, and even birds in kennels or animal hotels cause an immense amount of stress. This is why Meowtel was created, so tailored in-home care is brought to you.

We recommend booking daily visits to keep your cats in their routine and help minimize feline anxiety while you're away.

Each visit typically includes: feeding, refreshing water bowls, litter box scooping, tidying up, medications, updates with photos, lots of playtime, and any special requests. Ask your sitter about a free Meet & Greet!
