I love cats and have had cats of my own pretty much my entire life. I am the type of person that will spot a cat from over a block away and walk very roundabout ways to get somewhere because I saw a cat there one time... Hi, I'm Tabitha! I am a former elementary school teacher turned school librarian that left the public school world in 2017. Since then I have been teaching online classes and am currently working in Children's Online Safety, examining apps that target children, and hanging out with as many cats as possible along the way.
I love cats and have had cats of my own pretty much my entire life. I am the type of person that will spot a cat from over a block away and walk very roundabout ways to get somewhere because I saw a cat there one time. I’ve spent the past year and a half petsitting my way across the US and Canada (and Europe before that). I have made my way back to Virginia and am hoping to continue to find some cool cats to watch back in my home state. I am also open to traveling to other places for people that are looking for petsitting in other locations.

What is your experience with cat sitting, and how long have you been doing it?
I’ve had cats my entire life and been catsitting for over twenty years. I just spent the last year and a half petsitting across the US and Canada and have also traveled extensively around Europe catsitting as well.
Can you tell us about your favorite cat sitting reservation?
I spent almost two months watching a cat that was very friendly and loving, but definitely not a lap cat. He liked to be nearby and enjoyed being petted, but did not like to be picked up and did not like to sit on your lap. However, over the two months I spent with him he would gradually sit closer and closer to me. One day, when he jumped up next to me on the couch, he did not just lay down next to me but actually climbed up in my lap and sat there for a bit. I immediately sent a photo to his owners, who were as shocked as I was! While I still wouldn’t call him a lap cat, knowing that I won him over enough for him to feel comfortable sitting on my lap made this my favorite
Do you have kitties yourself? What are their names?
My baby, Tonks, passed away a couple years ago. After that I moved abroad and then adopted a more nomadic lifestyle that did not support having a pet of my own. So naturally I started catsitting to fill the need for kitty cuddles.

Holiday Surcharge
Due to high demand during holidays, sitters on Meowtel have the option to set their own holiday price increase, which can be found in the rates section of their profiles. If your reservation falls within three (3) days before and/or after a federal holiday, or on the holiday itself, a holiday surcharge, determined by your sitter, will be added to your reservation.

Frequently Asked Questions
Reservations officially begin at 12:00 AM in the sitter's time zone on the start date. Cat Parents may cancel within 24 hours of booking and receive a full refund, as long as the reservation has not yet started. After the first 24 hours, the following cancellation rules apply:
- More than 48 hours before the reservation start date: Full refund. The sitter will not receive any earnings.
- 24–48 hours before the reservation start date: 50% refund. The sitter will earn 50% of their planned earnings.
- Within 24 hours of the reservation start date (or after it has begun): No refund. The sitter will earn 100% of their planned earnings.
All refunds are initially applied to the Cat Parent's Meowtel Account Balance for use toward a future reservation or tip. Funds may be returned to the original payment method at any time.
Meowtel is a marketplace that connects cat parents with independent sitters. For eligible reservations booked and paid for through Meowtel, the Meowtel Promise explains how we support cat parents if something unexpected comes up.

Haymarket cat sitting rates will vary based on the sitter's experience and services, but the average price is $28.00. Prices depend on visit duration (20, 45, or 60 minutes) and whether you need drop-in visits or overnight stays.
