I have been in WA for two years now, and have volunteered at the Humane Society in Burlington for the first year I’ve been here, while it fit in my work schedule. Half of my work was on kennel crew where I cleaned and maintained six rooms of cat kennels, and thee other half was cat socialization and enrichment. There, I made sure each cat in my room was given their own time to play, roam, and relax. I absolutely loved doing this work... Hello! My name is Sam and I am passionate about cats. I have always lived with cats and have felt personal connections with each one.
I have been in WA for two years now, and have volunteered at the Humane Society in Burlington for the first year I’ve been here, while it fit in my work schedule. I currently have a remote, computer-based job that I can do from anywhere. It is very flexible.
What I offer:
* Drop-In Visits are 30-60 minutes 1-2x per day, which are best for feeding, cleaning, and some play time. I am available for drop-ins throughout the day.
* (Daytime) House Sitting is generally 3+ hours and is best for extended companionship and company. Note that I am only available during the daytime for house sitting, approximately 8am-4pm.

What is your typical process for working with a new cat parent?
Meet & greets are step 1 to making sure we are all a good fit for each other. We meet in person, I get to know your home’s layout, and I introduce myself to your cat(s) and learn their routine.
What is your favorite cat toy?
My favorite toys are anything that gets them moving, engaging, and exercising. I love birds/jinglies on sticks, strings, and other things I can move around to activate cats’ hunting instincts.
How do you handle cats that are particularly timid or anxious?
My cat is personally very timid, and I have handled all nature of cats through past sitting experiences. Depending on the cat, I like to sit quietly nearby so they begin understanding that even though I’m a stranger, I’m not there to cause harm. I use soft tones, treats, and toys and see what the catto likes. I also understand I won’t win over every cat, as each one has grown up differently.

Frequently Asked Questions
Reservations officially begin at 12:00 AM in the sitter's time zone on the start date. Cat Parents may cancel within 24 hours of booking and receive a full refund, as long as the reservation has not yet started. After the first 24 hours, the following cancellation rules apply:
- More than 48 hours before the reservation start date: Full refund. The sitter will not receive any earnings.
- 24–48 hours before the reservation start date: 50% refund. The sitter will earn 50% of their planned earnings.
- Within 24 hours of the reservation start date (or after it has begun): No refund. The sitter will earn 100% of their planned earnings.
All refunds are initially applied to the Cat Parent's Meowtel Account Balance for use toward a future reservation or tip. Funds may be returned to the original payment method at any time.

Anacortes cat sitting rates will vary based on the sitter's experience and services, but the average price is $26.00. Prices depend on visit duration (20, 45, or 60 minutes) and whether you need drop-in visits or overnight stays.
