I'm Bea

Cat Sitting in Issaquah, WA

Hi! I’m Bea (bee)

I’ve been around cats most of my life. My cat journey started with my cat Shine when I found her while wrangling the feral barn cats at my aunt’s farm when I was 8. In our time together I helped her give birth, work through eye infections, tooth removals, and subcutaneous fluid injections as she hit old age. I’m comfortable with nearly any kind of medical at home care your cat may need, even if they’re a little resistant. I’m calm in emergencies and I’m great with routines for cats that are comfy the way things are...

I’m calm in emergencies and I’m great with routines for cats that are comfy the way things are.
Shine was also one of those adventurous cats that liked to be walked on a leash, so I understand concerns with safety if your cat needs outside time.
I currently have a 7 year old diabetic foster cat. While she was slow to warm up, we’ve become so close I’ve even been told by the vet that she is significantly more comfortable being held since she began living with me. I’ve learned a lot about introducing cats to new environments and people, and how to be approachable for cats that have traumatic pasts. I have experience with strict diets, insulin administration, and brushing a resistant long haired cat.
And it may not seem relevant, but my past history of working in food service and cleaning jobs gifted me with the admiration for maintaining a clean space if you were to need multi-day/night care.
Know your cat has safe, reliable, and communicative care so you can be present where you are while you’re apart.

Learn More About Bea

What is your typical process for working with a new cat parent?

I’m open to any and all questions, and I am quick to respond back, this I find alleviates a lot of unnecessary stress when it comes to finding reliable care. I like to hear from the owner how they’ve learned different behavior in their cat, how they can tell what mood the cat is in, this helps me identify unusual behavior in the moment and keep the cat safer. As well as their routines. I schedule in person consultations before pet sitting to make sure I’m a good match and build that relationship so you can have faith in the person you’re having care for your cat(s). I set clearly defined expectations for duration of care, emergency response, care for the cat, how to enter and exit the home, how to maintain the house if I’m staying the night, desired means of communication (daily photos/video calls) and litter box expectations.

How do you ensure the safety & security of the cats and the home while cat sitting?

Having had a cat for 16 years and cared for her in late age there are signs you learn to look for when things are wrong. I’m familiar with lots of different kinds of pests/problems cats might catch while away, including confident identification of ringworm, tapeworm, fleas, ticks, botflies, and general signs of discomfort in animals. I am attentive to eating and behavioral habits, even though cats like to hide when they’re upset/injured I’m still perceptive to changes in behavior since I’ll generally ask what’s normal and abnormal for your pet when meeting them. I’m also great with making sure doors are locked, and I’ve always been able to get a cat in a carrier when it’s necessary no matter the size of the cat or the circumstances.

How do you handle cats that are particularly timid or anxious?

I’m not the type of person that believes every cat had to like me. If your cat doesn’t want to be around new people, I won’t force the cat to hang out with me. But I will certainly be slow and respectful with any engagement the cat consents to if they approach me. Cats know when you’re trying too hard, so letting them set the pace has always been the better choice in my history of getting to know cats. I’m also a quiet hobby enjoyer, reading and crocheting, and that comes off much more calming for cats than if I were into action movies/videos on my phone if I’m staying in their area for a while. I’m a low and slow, quiet and chill kind of person, and I haven’t had issues with cats being at least neutral to that.

We were so grateful for the exceptional care provided to our four cats, including two seniors with special medical needs. She confidently administered subQ fluids for our senior kidney cat as well as oral medications for both seniors. The care routine was complex, with different needs and limited time, and she handled everything with calm professionalism and kindness. Our cats were comfortable with her, and we trusted her completely during our time away. We would love to have her back again, and we’ll be more organized next time! Highly recommend her for anyone needing a skilled and compassionate cat sitter!

Bea did a fantastic job taking care of my two elderly cats! She was able to get my very shy boy to come out for pets and followed all our instructions for our injured girl. Bea made sure to send us pictures and updates each visit and informed us of apartment notices placed on the door. I would definitely hire Bea again.

Bea went above and beyond for me and my cats! I was concerned about my eldest, who has diabetes, and was excited to hire someone with extensive experience with giving insulin. Bea opened up her schedule in a way she didn't have to in order to accommodate, and went out of her way to ensure an affordable, optimized experience. She kept me up to date ever day, sent amazing pictures of my kitties, and provided frequent updates. My cats received the best care, and I can't wait to hire Bea again in the future!

Bea was incredible with our two girls, one of whom typically never emerges for guests! Seeing our shy kitty come out to receive treats from Bea was so comforting while we were away. Bea was responsive and flexible which we also really appreciated.

Meowtel is a marketplace that connects cat parents with independent sitters. For eligible reservations booked and paid for through Meowtel, the Meowtel Promise explains how we support cat parents if something unexpected comes up.

If it doesn't feel like a purrfect fit after a Meet & Greet or during a reservation, our support team is here to help at 1-844-Meowtel (1-844-636-9835). We'll take time to understand what happened and help you consider next steps, which could include help with a new reservation.

Every cat sitter on Meowtel completes a background check. Ask your sitter about a free Meet & Greet so you (and your kitties!) can feel comfortable with your sitter before you leave.

Cats are territorial animals and don't do well in new environments. The presence of other cats, dogs, and even birds in kennels or animal hotels cause an immense amount of stress. This is why Meowtel was created, so tailored in-home care is brought to you.

We recommend booking daily visits to keep your cats in their routine and help minimize feline anxiety while you're away.

Each visit typically includes: feeding, refreshing water bowls, litter box scooping, tidying up, medications, updates with photos, lots of playtime, and any special requests. Ask your sitter about a free Meet & Greet!
