Hi! I’m a lifelong cat lover with plenty of experience caring for cats of all ages and personalities. I’m patient, gentle, and attuned to feline body language, so I take the time to build trust—whether through play, quiet companionship, or treats (if allowed!).

During visits, I make sure your cat feels safe and comfortable. I follow any instructions closely, whether that’s feeding, litter box care, administering meds, or just providing company. I respect that every cat is different, so I adapt to what makes your cat happiest.

I’m reliable, calm, and detail-oriented, and I treat every cat like my own. I look forward to meeting your furry family member!

Learn More About Heather

What is your experience with cat sitting, and how long have you been doing it?

I’ve been cat sitting for since 2022, caring for cats with all kinds of personalities—from playful and outgoing to shy and independent. I have experience with kittens, seniors, and cats who need a little extra care, and I always focus on making sure they feel safe and comfortable while their humans are away.

What do you enjoy most about cat sitting?

What I enjoy most about cat sitting is getting to know each cat’s unique personality and earning their trust. I love those quiet moments when a cat feels safe enough to curl up next to me or when I see their playful side come out. It’s really rewarding to provide comfort and care while their humans are away.

Can you tell us about your favorite cat sitting reservation?

One of my favorite cat moments was when a very shy cat I’d been visiting for days finally came out from hiding and gently head-butted my hand. I stayed still, and soon she curled up beside me, purring. It was such a sweet reminder of how meaningful it is to earn a cat’s trust at their own pace.

Do you have kitties yourself? What are their names?

Yes, if anybody loves “What we do in the shadows” you will love their names. Guillermo and Nandor - their personalities are spot on! 🤣

What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a cat sitter?

🐾 1. Look for Experience with Cats Not all pet sitters are cat-savvy. Make sure they have specific experience with cats—especially if your cat has special needs, takes medication, or is shy or temperamental. 📝 2. Ask the Right Questions Ask about: • How they handle emergencies • Their comfort level with litter box cleanup • Their approach to timid or aggressive cats • Whether they provide daily updates/photos 🤝 3. Schedule a Meet & Greet Let your cat meet the sitter beforehand to observe how they interact. A good sitter will take time to build trust and won’t force interaction.

What is your typical process for working with a new cat parent?

My process working with parents is all about communication, trust, and making sure your cat feels safe and comfortable. 1. Initial Chat or Message Exchange I start by learning about your cat’s personality, routine, and any special needs. I’ll ask questions to understand what makes your cat feel at home. 2. Free Meet & Greet Before the booking, I always offer a meet & greet in your home. This gives your cat time to sniff me out, and helps me get familiar with them. 3. Customized Care Plan I’ll go over feeding schedule, medications, litter box routine, playtime preferences, and your expectations. 4. Daily Check-Ins & Updates While you’re away, I send daily photos, videos, and notes. If anything seems off (eating, behavior, etc.), I let you know right away. 5. Wrap-Up & Welcome Home I’ll make sure everything is clean and just how you left it. I can also water plants, bring in mail, etc.

How do you ensure the safety & security of the cats and the home while cat sitting?

🐱 Cat Safety • Routine-focused care: I stick closely to your cat’s normal feeding, litter box, and playtime and routines. • Monitoring behavior: I pay close attention to their mood, appetite, litter habits, and activity. If anything seems off, I’ll reach out immediately. • No forced interaction: I respect each cat’s personality—especially shy or anxious ones—and give them space to come to me on their terms. 🏠 Home Security • Secure access: I use keys or entry codes responsibly and never share access with anyone else. I double-check that doors are locked each time I leave. • Lights & blinds: If requested, I can rotate lights or blinds to give the home a “lived-in” feel for added security. • Discreet presence: I’m respectful of your space, leave things exactly how I found them, and never post anything online without permission. 📲 Communication & Updates • I provide regular updates (with photos or videos) so you feel comfortable.

Are you usually available during holidays?

Yes! This is when most cat parents travel so I try to keep my availability as open as possible to take visits!

How do you handle cats that are particularly timid or anxious?

🐾 My approach includes: • Giving space: I avoid direct eye contact, sudden movements, or loud noises. I let them come to me when they’re ready—no pressure. • Creating consistency: I stick to their usual routine as closely as possible. Familiar smells, feeding times, and litter habits help create a sense of stability. • Non-threatening presence: I might sit quietly nearby and read, talk softly, or just be still so they can get used to me at their own pace. • Using familiar cues: If they have favorite treats, toys, or calming sprays, I’m happy to use those as comfort tools. • Respecting boundaries: If a cat prefers to stay hidden, I’ll gently check in visually but never try to pull them out. My goal is to ensure they’re safe—not to force interaction.

Heather did a great job with my two kitties! My older kitty needs medicine twice a day so I worry about her but Heather was very reassuring, she handled everything so well and sent lots of photos and the kitties loved her!

Heather was so wonderful with my kitties and took the most excellent care of them! She handled the unexpected occurrence of my Link digging through our trash very kindly as well. Heather sent tons of wonderful pictures and descriptions of the visits that I appreciated so much. I would love having her look after my kitties again!

Meowtel is a marketplace that connects cat parents with independent sitters. For eligible reservations booked and paid for through Meowtel, the Meowtel Promise explains how we support cat parents if something unexpected comes up.

If it doesn't feel like a purrfect fit after a Meet & Greet or during a reservation, our support team is here to help at 1-844-Meowtel (1-844-636-9835). We'll take time to understand what happened and help you consider next steps, which could include help with a new reservation.

Every cat sitter on Meowtel completes a background check. Ask your sitter about a free Meet & Greet so you (and your kitties!) can feel comfortable with your sitter before you leave.

Cats are territorial animals and don't do well in new environments. The presence of other cats, dogs, and even birds in kennels or animal hotels cause an immense amount of stress. This is why Meowtel was created, so tailored in-home care is brought to you.

We recommend booking daily visits to keep your cats in their routine and help minimize feline anxiety while you're away.

Each visit typically includes: feeding, refreshing water bowls, litter box scooping, tidying up, medications, updates with photos, lots of playtime, and any special requests. Ask your sitter about a free Meet & Greet!
