What do you enjoy most about cat sitting?

One of my favorite things about cat sitting is learning about the specific things owners do for their cats. The things that sometimes you feel silly doing or asking for, but are an important part of their day to day routine. Like preparing their food in just the right way, a particular treat-routine, certain toys they favor, making sure their favorite cozy spot is ‘just right’, a way they like to be held or pet, etc. I too have little things I do for my cat that he has come to expect - like leaving treats at the fireplace when I leave the house. You are your cat’s expert, and I will do my best to replicate every detail of their routine - even the little things that may seem silly! I also love trying to get that perfect cat-model photo of your cat to send you!

Do you have kitties yourself? What are their names?

I have a 2 year old male Ragdoll named Bogey. He was almost named Gordy, after my favorite musical artist (and inspiration for Carefree Catway) Gordon Lightfoot! Bogey has all the great traits of a Ragdoll with some extra spice and attitude - life with him is never dull!

What is your typical process for working with a new cat parent?

I believe it is best practice to have a thorough meeting prior to the first official visit. This will allow us to talk through your expectations, your cat’s needs and preferences, identify what information you would like to be provided with in terms of visit updates, ask questions, ensure that I thoroughly understand your care instructions - and most importantly, for you and your kitties to determine if I am the right sitter for them :)

How do you ensure the safety & security of the cats and the home while cat sitting?

In my own home, I am very aware of potential hazards to my cat, i.e., blinds, electrical cords, toxic house plants, toys that require supervision, small items on the floor, closed windows, etc. While in your home, I will have that same vigilance. I will diligently monitor your cat(s) and remain observant for any concerning behaviors or safety situations and notify as needed. I will respect and follow your instructions and routines/methods of caring for your cat(s) and home.

Are you usually available during holidays?

Yes! I have few commitments during the holidays and am very flexible. I typically stay local so I have no issue taking time to visit while you’re off enjoying your holiday!

What is your favorite cat toy?

Specifically, one of my favorite toys is the 'Cat Dancer' - though I'm a fan of any toy that is safe, encourages stimulation and play, and is not easily lost under a couch!

How do you handle cats that are particularly timid or anxious?

There is no ‘one size fits all’ approach with cats. I believe that it is our duty to learn what works best for them and respect their comfort zone (even if it's hiding under a bed for the entire visit!) I pay close attention to cat’s cues and follow their lead - even more so when they are potentially timid or anxious. I let them approach me in their own time, and I avoid sudden movements or reaching for them. I’m conscious of my body language and the tone/volume of my voice as to make myself as unintimidating as possible. I incentivize with treats or toys as allowed by the owner, if it can help their cat feel more comfortable when meeting new people. Earning the trust of a shy kitty is one of the most rewarding aspects of cat sitting!

Celina provided exceptional care for my beloved cat, Cisco. At our meet and greet, Celina's warmth and friendliness were immediately apparent. She has a calm demeanor that put Cisco and I at ease. She listened to every detail of my instructions, asked questions, and took notes. It was clear that she took her role seriously and wanted to ensure Cisco’s routine was followed perfectly. Cisco can be shy around new people but looked happy and relaxed in the photos/videos she sent. Celina took time to brush him at each visit, which is a huge help for his coat maintenance. It’s a testament to her dedication that he was so happy and well-cared for when I returned. Cancellation Policy

Cat parents may cancel within 24 hours of making their reservation and receive a full refund, and the sitter will not receive any earnings. After the first 24 hours, the following cancellation rules apply:

Cat parents will receive a full refund to their Account Balance if they cancel anytime up to 48 hours before the start date of the reservation, and the sitter will not receive any earnings.

Cat parents will receive a 50% refund, and the sitter will earn 50% of their planned earnings if the cat parent cancels between 24-48 hours of the start of the reservation.

No refund will be issued within 24 hours of the reservation, and the sitter will keep 100% of their planned earnings.
