What is your experience with cat sitting, and how long have you been doing it?

I fell in love with cats while living in a collective house back in 2013 — there were 20 people and 5 cats! I would often take lead on caring for my housemates’ cats when they were out of town, and I’ve been cat sitting ever since. When I moved out in 2016 I adopted my first cat Leo, and in 2018 adopted my cat Djuna. It’s a delight to learn the unique needs and personality of each animal, as they are all so different! As a healthcare worker, I am particularly drawn to supporting cats with special needs. I’ve cared for cats with kidney disease, asthma, diabetes, aggression, recent surgeries, and litter box issues caused by cerebellar hypoplasia.

What do you enjoy most about cat sitting?

I love cats so much, and getting to know each animals unique needs is such a fun challenge. It’s so satisfying to build relationships with new animals and to see them relax and enjoy our time together. Sharing daily photos and stories with the cat’s humans is also a great joy; I know how delightful and reassuring it can feel to know your cat is having a good time!

Do you have kitties yourself? What are their names?

I had two cats who have sadly both passed away. Leo was a gorgeous flame point Siamese with cerebellar hypoplasia, who was the silliest, sweetest floof I’ve ever met. He loved to eat breakfast, watch birds, and receive belly rubs! Djuna was a tiny blind FIV+ cat who developed kidney disease and cancer in her old age, but she acted like a rambunctious kitten almost until the end! She was chatty and demanded play time and affection, and loved rubbing her face on my face. I miss them both dearly, and will treat your cat just as if they were my own!

What is your typical process for working with a new cat parent?

It’s important to have an in-person meeting before I cat sit for you so we can answer questions in person and make sure it’s a good fit. I want you to be able to go out of town and feel at ease, trusting I’ll do a great job. We will go over all the instructions and routines necessary to care for your pet, as well as any other needs your home might have (watering plants, getting mail and packages, etc). I’ll also get to meet your cat and learn what kind of touch, play, and interactions they enjoy. While you’re gone, I reach out as much or as little as you request depending on your preference; some people want an update every time I visit, other people only want to know if something unexpected has come up. I can send photos, videos, or text!

How do you handle cats that are particularly timid or anxious?

I have learned how to read cat body language in order to understand their boundaries and desires. Patience is key with timid and anxious cats, as is exuding calm and gentle energy. I never try and force an interaction the cat doesn’t want, but I do reinforce when a cat is making strides towards being happy, confident, and relaxed with positive affirmations (and treats if that is permitted!).

My cat, Argento, is as dear as a son to me, and an emotional support animal, and Kamryn did a wonderful job at making sure he was well cared for while I was away from him for a week which is the longest time we've ever been apart from each other. Unfortunately Argento was asserting a lot of independence during her care, but she still shared photos of him when she could catch him around, which was a great relief to me. I would highly recommend Kamryn to anyone looking for an adept and understanding cat sitter.

Cancellation Policy

Customers may cancel within 24 hours of making their reservation and receive a 100% refund, and the sitter will not receive any earnings. After the first 24 hours, the following cancellation rules apply:

Customers will receive a 100% refund to their Account Balance if they cancel anytime up to 48 hours before the start date of the reservation, and the sitter will not receive any earnings.

Customers will receive a 50% refund, and the sitter will earn 50% of their planned earnings if the customer cancels between 24-48 hours of the start of the reservation.

No refund will be issued within 24 hours of the reservation, and the sitter will keep 100% of their planned earnings.
