Building trust with a new cat requires patience, respect, and understanding of their unique personality. First, I give the cat space to approach me on their terms, letting them sniff and observe without pressure. I use a calm, gentle voice to reassure them and avoid direct eye contact, which can be intimidating. Offering treats or engaging with their favorite toys helps to create positive associations. Gradually, I’ll start petting them in areas cats typically enjoy, like under the chin or behind the ears, always watching their body language to ensure they're comfortable. Trust is built slowly, so I move at the cat’s pace, allowing them to feel safe and secure in my presence.

What do you enjoy most about cat sitting?

What I enjoy most about cat sitting is forming a unique bond with each cat. I love witnessing their personalities shine through as they grow more comfortable. Whether it's playing, grooming, or simply providing a calm presence, I find joy in ensuring they feel safe, loved, and content in their owner's absence.

Can you tell us about your favorite cat sitting reservation?

One of my favorite cat sitting experiences was with a mischievous tabby named Raul. Raul had a reputation for being shy with strangers, but by the second day of our time together, he began to warm up. After a few days of gentle interactions, Raul finally sat beside me and started purring contentedly. I’ll never forget the breakthrough moment when he brought me his favorite toy, a small mouse, as if inviting me into his world. By the end of the week, we were inseparable, and I could tell Raul was as sad to see me go as I was to leave him.

Cancellation Policy

Customers may cancel within 24 hours of making their reservation and receive a 100% refund and the sitter will not receive any earnings. After the first 24 hours, the following cancellation rules apply:

Customers will receive a 100% refund to their Account Balance if they cancel anytime up to 48 hours before the start date of the reservation and the sitter will not receive any earnings.

Customers will receive a 50% refund and the sitter will earn 50% of their planned earnings if the customer cancels between 24-48 hours of the start of the reservation.

No refund will be issued within 24 hours of the reservation and the sitter will keep 100% of their planned earnings.

The Meowtel Promise & Satisfaction Guarantee

For reservations where each visit is at or above $20 and paid for through Meowtel, your cat(s) will automatically be covered under our insurance policy in the event that things don't go as planned.

If you are not fully satisfied with your sitter after the Meet & Greet or during the reservation, please call 1-844-636-9835 so we can help you re-book with a new sitter to ensure we can deliver on our purrfect hospitality promise.

Prices will also depend on how long your cat needs company for, whether that be a drop-in visit or overnight stay in your home. Meowtel sitters offer 20, 45, and 60-minute drop-in visits that allow for fully tailored care for your kitties. Your caregiver may also need to charge a little more if they have to travel far, so we'll match you with the best options which are close by.
