What do you enjoy most about cat sitting?

Spending the bulk of my time around animals has brought a degree of peace into my life which had been missing. I love that I get to meet so many different cats in this job and it has revealed to me how intelligent, sensitive and spirited they all are. Caring for cats is a wonderfully fulfilling experience.

How do you ensure the safety & security of the cats and the home while cat sitting?

Asking questions goes a long way! Before a booking, I like to know how a cat has been feeling/acting over the last few weeks, if there’s any behavior to keep an eye on and whether they have any ‘tells’ for when something is off. I always open doors slowly while blocking any possible room for escape artists to slip past me when entering a home, especially when a cat has a known track record. I make a point to see that all ground level windows are locked and secured when I begin a job, and double-checking that doors are locked each night is routine for me. As a sitter specializing in extended overnight stays, I make sure to note the location of a fire extinguisher in the the home and to have all vet numbers, emergency contacts and emergency home repair phone numbers easily accessible to me.

How do you handle cats that are particularly timid or anxious?

I never take any cat’s behavior personally and see myself as a guest in their space and conduct myself as such - if a cat is very nervous, I give them ample time and space to adjust to my presence. I go about my own business calmly and quietly until they are ready to meet me on their own terms. If a cat is exhibiting a great deal of anxiety or fear after I’ve been in the home for awhile, I make sure to communicate with their owners to help me discern between normal and abnormal behavior for that cat and to gain insight on strategies to improve trust between the cat and myself.

Cancellation Policy

Cat parents may cancel within 24 hours of making their reservation and receive a full refund, and the sitter will not receive any earnings. After the first 24 hours, the following cancellation rules apply:

Cat parents will receive a full refund to their Account Balance if they cancel anytime up to 48 hours before the start date of the reservation, and the sitter will not receive any earnings.

Cat parents will receive a 50% refund, and the sitter will earn 50% of their planned earnings if the cat parent cancels between 24-48 hours of the start of the reservation.

No refund will be issued within 24 hours of the reservation, and the sitter will keep 100% of their planned earnings.
