I started cat sitting professionally in San Francisco in 2021 through Meowtel and quickly became one of the top sitters in SF thanks to my reliability, communication, and genuine love for feline care. My love for cats started early when my family rescued a litter of stray kittens when I was 4 years old; eventually leading us to raised a total of five cats throughout my childhood. Since then, caring for cats has always been a huge part of my life... Hi! What do you enjoy most about cat sitting?
What I enjoy most about cat sitting is the opportunity to build trust and connection with each cat while giving owners peace of mind when they’re away. I grew up around cats and there has rarely been a time in my life when I didn’t have them around, so caring for them feels very natural to me. Since my current living situation doesn’t allow for pets, cat sitting has also become a meaningful way for me to continue having cats in my life. I genuinely find a lot of fulfillment in making sure cats feel safe, comfortable, cared for, and loved while their owners are away.
What is your typical process for working with a new cat parent?
I always try to schedule an in-person meet-and-greet with new clients whenever possible so both the cat and owner can become comfortable with me before the booking begins. I understand that schedules and circumstances can vary, though, so I’m also happy to do video meet-and-greets when needed. During the meet-and-greet, I like to go over the cat’s routine, personality, feeding instructions, medical needs, favorite toys/treats, hiding spots, and any other important details that will help me provide the best possible care while you’re away. I also encourage owners to use this time to ask me any questions they may have so they can fully get to know me, my experience, and my approach to cat care. I want every client to feel completely comfortable and confident that we’re a good fit before the booking starts. How do you handle cats that are particularly timid or anxious?
With timid or anxious cats, I believe it’s important to let them feel fully in control of our interactions while they adjust to my presence and having me in their space. I always allow cats to approach me first at their own pace, whether that means simply observing from afar, sniffing me, or slowly initiating contact. I pay close attention to body language and never force interaction. If they show signs of wanting affection or engagement, I move slowly and make sure they continue feeling safe and comfortable. My goal is always to build trust gradually and create a calm, low-stress environment for them.

This was our first time hiring a pet sitter and Megan exceeded expectations dealing with the complications of feeding our cats (one hides and the other tries to steal his food) and getting them both comfortable enough to greet her and get pets, etc. Her updates and photos were also very detailed and helpful (and cute). I felt very confident in her care and would highly recommend her if you're looking for a caring, trustworthy pet sitter who is an excellent communicator.

Holiday Surcharge
Due to high demand during holidays, sitters on Meowtel have the option to set their own holiday price increase, which can be found in the rates section of their profiles. If your reservation falls within three (3) days before and/or after a federal holiday, or on the holiday itself, a holiday surcharge, determined by your sitter, will be added to your reservation.

- January 16-22: MLK Day
- February 13-19: Presidents Day
- May 22-28: Memorial Day
- June 16-22: Juneteenth

Frequently Asked Questions
Reservations officially begin at 12:00 AM in the sitter's time zone on the start date. Cat Parents may cancel within 24 hours of booking and receive a full refund, as long as the reservation has not yet started. After the first 24 hours, the following cancellation rules apply:
- More than 48 hours before the reservation start date: Full refund. The sitter will not receive any earnings.
- 24–48 hours before the reservation start date: 50% refund. The sitter will earn 50% of their planned earnings.
- Within 24 hours of the reservation start date (or after it has begun): No refund. The sitter will earn 100% of their planned earnings.
All refunds are initially applied to the Cat Parent's Meowtel Account Balance for use toward a future reservation or tip. Funds may be returned to the original payment method at any time.
Meowtel is a marketplace that connects cat parents with independent sitters. For eligible reservations booked and paid for through Meowtel, the Meowtel Promise explains how we support cat parents if something unexpected comes up.

Atascadero cat sitting rates will vary based on the sitter's experience and services, but the average price is $30.00. Prices depend on visit duration (20, 45, or 60 minutes) and whether you need drop-in visits or overnight stays.
Every cat sitter on Meowtel completes a background check. Ask your sitter about a free Meet & Greet so you (and your kitties!) can feel comfortable with your sitter before you leave.
Cats are territorial animals and don't do well in new environments. The presence of other cats, dogs, and even birds in kennels or animal hotels cause an immense amount of stress. This is why Meowtel was created, so tailored in-home care is brought to you.
We recommend booking daily visits to keep your cats in their routine and help minimize feline anxiety while you're away.

Megan was an absolutely fantastic caretaker to my cats and I couldn’t give a more enthusiastic recommendation!!! A bit of background on just why I am so enthusiastic about her: Megan took care of my 3 special needs cats 3x/day for 10 days. 2 of my cats require manual bladder expressions every 8 hours, and there’s a host of other meds. I usually find traveling very stressful. Megan did a terrific job of taking care of my cats timely (for 30 visits!) and did a fantastic job of communicating this to me, with both detailed updates and pictures (of both the cats and the expressions). Megan really went above and beyond and helped put me at ease during my trip. Thanks so much Megan! I intend to use Megan for all of my future cat sitting needs! :)

I have 2 special needs cats that are incontinent (ie: cannot pee on their own). Megan was an absolute CHAMP in learning to express their bladders and doing all of the unglamorous related care. I felt SO comfortable being out of town knowing that Megan was caring for my sweet cats. It's so hard to find a good sitter for them, and I cannot thank Megan enough.
