What is your experience with cat sitting, and how long have you been doing it?
I have sat for friends and family since I was a teenager (so 50 years!). I have given meds/shots and have done overnight stays.
What do you enjoy most about cat sitting?
I love being around cats with all their quirks and personalities. They bring me joy, so I love helping others and to give them peace of mind while they are away from their kitties whether it's a day or a couple of weeks.
Do you have kitties yourself? What are their names?
I have 2 cats named Gracie (17) & Buddy (11). Total opposites; one is feral and the other a princess!
What is your typical process for working with a new cat parent?
At our meet and greet, I make sure to know exactly what each cat parent expects for each individual cat. What they like to eat, where the food is, what toys are their favorites, where the litter boxes are located, where to put the waste, how to enter the house, what the cats shy away from or what are their quirks. I make sure that when they give me a key or combination to a lockbox that we try them out and make sure I am given the correct key and information of how to enter - whether there is an alarm code. Where do the cats like to hide, is it okay to enter certain rooms (or not). I will follow exact instructions. I make sure all their questions are answered and put them at ease and feel absolutely comfortable with hiring me.
Are you usually available during holidays?
Yes, I am usually available for the holidays (even Christmas and New Years).
How do you handle cats that are particularly timid or anxious?
When working with timid or anxious cats, I usually do not approach them when entering a home. I go about getting the food out, emptying litter boxes - I will then sit down quietly near to where they are hiding and maybe put a treat next to me or get their favorite toy and put it near them and slowing pull it away to see if they inch forward to get it. They need to get to know your scent, too, so just sitting calmly nearby the first time, helps with the 2nd time. I have even put soothing music on low - believe it or not, this has comforted some anxious cats. If nothing else works, I walk away slowly and make sure that when I come back the next time, whether it's in the evening or the next day that they have eaten their food.

Holiday Surcharge
Due to high demand during holidays, sitters on Meowtel have the option to set their own holiday price increase, which can be found in the rates section of their profiles. If your reservation falls within three (3) days before and/or after a federal holiday, or on the holiday itself, a holiday surcharge, determined by your sitter, will be added to your reservation.
These are the date ranges in 2026 to which the holiday surcharge applies:
- January 1-4: New Year's 2026
- January 16-22: MLK Day
- February 13-19: Presidents Day
- May 22-28: Memorial Day
- June 16-22: Juneteenth
- July 1-7: July 4th
- September 4-10: Labor Day
- October 9-15: Columbus Day / Indigenous Peoples' Day
- November 8-14: Veterans Day
- November 23-29: Thanksgiving
- December 22-28: Christmas
- December 29-31: New Year's 2027

Frequently Asked Questions
Reservations officially begin at 12:00 AM in the sitter's time zone on the start date. Cat Parents may cancel within 24 hours of booking and receive a full refund, as long as the reservation has not yet started. After the first 24 hours, the following cancellation rules apply:
- More than 48 hours before the reservation start date: Full refund. The sitter will not receive any earnings.
- 24–48 hours before the reservation start date: 50% refund. The sitter will earn 50% of their planned earnings.
- Within 24 hours of the reservation start date (or after it has begun): No refund. The sitter will earn 100% of their planned earnings.
All refunds are initially applied to the Cat Parent's Meowtel Account Balance for use toward a future reservation or tip. Funds may be returned to the original payment method at any time.

Chatsworth cat sitting rates will vary based on the sitter's experience and services, but the average price is $36.00. Prices depend on visit duration (20, 45, or 60 minutes) and whether you need drop-in visits or overnight stays.
