What is your experience with cat sitting, and how long have you been doing it?

I have been taking care of friends cats for about 2 years now, which branched out to word of mouth for a few other cat clients. I currently have more free time and only 2 cat clients, which is what has brought me here to meowtell to hopefully meet you and your fur babies. My mom was the sweetest cat lady, so I’ve had a cat(s) my entire life. So I consider myself to have a lifetime of experience.

What do you enjoy most about cat sitting?

I get great fulfillment in knowing that I’m able to give you (the cat parent) peace of mind when you’re not home to take care of your kitty. I really just enjoy spending time with cats, it’s pure serotonin.

Can you tell us about your favorite cat sitting reservation?

I have to say the one that sticks out the most is the funniest. My regular client Joker (gray kitty in photos) knocked over and opened his big container of catnip when his mum was gone, when I arrived I just saw a huge trail and paw prints throughout the house. We were glad he was safe and it was an easy clean up, but we sure got a laugh out of his shenanigans. Joker of course was innocent.

Do you have kitties yourself? What are their names?

Yes! I rescued “Sir Charles” 8 years ago, I named him Bowie. He’s the most shy cat I’ve had but he’s made a lot of progress over the years, it still takes him a long time to get used to people but he sure loves his little pampered life and has recently found his meow for breakfast and dinner time. I love him so much 🥹he’s the white and gray cat in my photos.

What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a cat sitter?

To make a list and go over everything and anything with us, it’s never a bother for us sitters, we like to know all the little details to keep you and your cats safe and comfortable.

What is your typical process for working with a new cat parent?

During our meet and greet I like to take notes on my phone on everything I’ll be covering during my visits with your cat. If the fur babies haven’t made an appearance already I like to meet them or be shown where their favorite hiding places are. I’m happy to answer any questions or concerns you may have then or via messaging me on the app.

How do you ensure the safety & security of the cats and the home while cat sitting?

First I make sure to enter your home in a quick and safe manner, I then make sure I lock the door behind me. I first do a wellness check on the cats before preforming the other duties. I like to scan the floors for anything they shouldn’t have and then once the visit is up I make sure again to lock the doors.

Are you usually available during holidays?

Yes, I’m currently home for all major holidays this year.

What is your favorite cat toy?

I love a good cat tunnel, it’s fun to throw toys for them to chase through. Anything that gets them moving around happily is always fun. Bowie’s favorite toy is pickle with a Santa hat.

How do you handle cats that are particularly timid or anxious?

As I’ve mentioned my boy Bowie is extremely timid. When my mom and I adopted him, the shelter said we were perfect for him because of how soft spoken and gentle we were. And that’s how I handle all my cat clients. I’m very quiet and know that if your kitty likes to hide that’s ok, I’m happy to try and sit a safe distance from them and get them used to me if that’s something you’re comfortable with, otherwise I’m perfectly happy with making sure their environment is safe and clean, we can discuss their hiding spots as well to send photos. I know all cats and their preferences are different but that’s my basic go to for the shy ones. Happy to work with you to make sure they stay calm and happy as possible during my visits.

Kate is the best! Two of my cats were hiding the whole time, but that was expected. Miss Kiki came out and got to play with Kate. From the pics and clips, it looks like she had a great time. The other two missed out on Kate time IMO ;) Kate also sent pics showing the food and water was replenished and the litter boxes were clean. This was the first time leaving them for a long period of time and I felt reassured that they were in good hands. I would definitely hire Kate again in the future.

Cancellation Policy

Cat parents may cancel within 24 hours of making their reservation and receive a full refund, and the sitter will not receive any earnings. After the first 24 hours, the following cancellation rules apply:

Cat parents will receive a full refund to their Account Balance if they cancel anytime up to 48 hours before the start date of the reservation, and the sitter will not receive any earnings.

Cat parents will receive a 50% refund, and the sitter will earn 50% of their planned earnings if the cat parent cancels between 24-48 hours of the start of the reservation.

No refund will be issued within 24 hours of the reservation, and the sitter will keep 100% of their planned earnings.
