What is your experience with cat sitting, and how long have you been doing it?

I’ve been cat sitting proffesionally for 4 years now. I have extensive experience providing attentive, loving care to cats of all personalities and medical needs.

What do you enjoy most about cat sitting?

My favorite part is when a cat figures out I’m a friend. Watching a shy kitty slowly come around and show their real personality is the best feeling. There’s nothing like having a cat run and hide under the bed the first day, but then wait by the front door to greet me with body rubs just a few visits later.

Can you tell us about your favorite cat sitting reservation?

I love working with the really cautious ones. I watched this one kitty who was totally not vibing with me the first couple of days. He would see me walk through the door and immediately bolt for the bed. So I just continued my duties, and he would come out to sneak a peek, but the minute I'd acknowledge his presence, off he went! After I got the essentials all done, I would sit on the floor and bust out my feather wand. As I played with his sister, he would watch us from a distance. Eventually, by the third day, we ended up totally clicking. And by the end of the trip, they were both playing with the feather wand and just having a blast. I loved that.

Do you have kitties yourself? What are their names?

Yes, I have four street-rescued boys: Koonies, Gizmo, Shmeenie and Chappy. I found them each individually as these teeny-tiny puff ball kittens out here in the desert, hood of a hot car, shopping plaza bush & closed down RV park and now they are completely spoiled. Ive had cats all my life but these four have specifically taught me that every cat has a different personality, their own rules, and their own way of getting stressed and how they show it.

What is your typical process for working with a new cat parent?

We do a quick meet-and-greet to talk about food portions, litter box rules, and where your cat likes to hide. When I visit, I do the dirty work like scrubbing bowls and scooping litter, then I let your cat pick if they want to play with a wand or just hang out on the floor afterwards.

How do you ensure the safety & security of the cats and the home while cat sitting?

Keeping your cats and your house safe is my number one job. I’m fully trained in pet first aid and CPR from my shelter work, so I stay calm if anything goes wrong. For your house, I double-check locks, switch lights on and off, move your trash cans, and grab your mail so everything looks normal while you're gone.

Are you usually available during holidays?

Yes, my schedule is extremely open and flexible for all holidays if you need last minute just reach out and im there!

What is your favorite cat toy?

It depends on what the cat likes, but a classic feather wand or a little worm toy are my favorites to get them moving. I also like using food puzzles or hidden treats to keep them busy. If a cat is too scared for any interactive toys bust out the cardboard boxes IT CAN NEVER FAIL YOU THEY LOVE THEIR BOXES lol

How do you handle cats that are particularly timid or anxious?

I specialize in scared and nervous kitties and I never push them. I won't crowd them or force them out of a hiding spot. I just sit quietly on the floor at their level, watch how they are acting, and let them take their time. I let them set the pace so they feel totally safe.
