What is your experience with cat sitting, and how long have you been doing it?
I have been actively cat sitting for 2 years but also looked after pets when I was younger. I have seen all sorts of personalities during my years of cat sitting and love them all!
What do you enjoy most about cat sitting?
What is there not to love?? Getting to spend the day giving a cat cuddles pretty much sums up my perfect day (or shall I say purrfect… sorry I had to)
Can you tell us about your favorite cat sitting reservation?
Ooo hard one, I think it would have to be the first cat sit I did in NL. I got a cat sit request and that was actually how I ended up meeting my best friend. Her cats were so sweet- one was a wild orange cat (you know the type) and the other had 3 legs and was incredibly shy and normally doesn’t let anyone touch him. By day 3 he let me start brushing him and now we are besties and he comes running to me. His owners couldn’t believe it.
How do you handle cats that are particularly timid or anxious?
Honestly I feel like timid cats are my specialty at this point. There is not a shy cat that I haven’t won over in the end. I genuinely want the cat to trust me so I am calm and let them sniff me and let them control the situation. I’ve had it where some cats are so shy that they don’t even want to come out from a hiding spot. In this case, I see if they want some treats and if they allow me to just sit close to them so they get used to me. I’ll move slowly and retreat if they get scared but try again later to show them I’m not a threat. In the end even the most scared cats have trusted me and let me pet them and those are normally the ones that end up being the most affectionate with me.

Frequently Asked Questions
Reservations officially begin at 12:00 AM in the sitter's time zone on the start date. Cat Parents may cancel within 24 hours of booking and receive a full refund, as long as the reservation has not yet started. After the first 24 hours, the following cancellation rules apply:
- More than 48 hours before the reservation start date: Full refund. The sitter will not receive any earnings.
- 24–48 hours before the reservation start date: 50% refund. The sitter will earn 50% of their planned earnings.
- Within 24 hours of the reservation start date (or after it has begun): No refund. The sitter will earn 100% of their planned earnings.
All refunds are initially applied to the Cat Parent's Meowtel Account Balance for use toward a future reservation or tip. Funds may be returned to the original payment method at any time.
