What is your experience with cat sitting, and how long have you been doing it?

I am new to cat sitting on this platform, but I have had experience since I was 10 years old doing petsitting in general. It has always been a here and there thing, but I am hoping to make it a regular an ongoing practice here at Meowtel! I look forward to building a positive and trustworthy reputation here!

What do you enjoy most about cat sitting?

Meeting a new kitty is always so exiting! I truly see the uniqueness in each kitty I meet, and I look forward to unfolding their personality and getting to know them! I enjoy meeting their needs and spending time with them doing whatever! Playing, pets, grooming even!

Do you have kitties yourself? What are their names?

I have 7 indoor kitties, Dare Dare is my OG and is about 7 years old. The rest are all 2 years old and are rescues most which I have had since birth. Tim True, Pandy, Skittle, Ringo, Wicket and Biscuit. I also have a TNR that I am looking to adopt out. her name is Willow Basil. I’m also currently fostering a litter of five kittens which are about seven weeks old and also a single kitten which is about eight weeks old. I am fostering all the kittens for Valley Animal Center until they are big enough and healthy enough to go into their cat adoption center!!

What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a cat sitter?

Trust your instincts! Not every cat-sitter will be a good fit. Also, be patient with the process of finding your pet sitter, you should never feel rushed. Ask plenty of questions and allow time for kitty to get to know them a bit. They will be the best judge anyway!! :D

What is your typical process for working with a new cat parent?

I always go and meet the parents and kitties, allowing for ample time to get to know both. I want to make sure we both feel confident that I understand what their expectations are.

How do you ensure the safety & security of the cats and the home while cat sitting?

It is really important to make sure all doors are shut and locked at all times. It is also essential to keep to the owners requirements and to keep anything harmful from being introduced to the environment. I always wear clean clothes as to not bring anything into the environment on my own clothes. I also wash my hands before handling any pets or anything else in the home.

Are you usually available during holidays?

Yes I am usually available on holidays, but there is usually an additional charge. Please reach out to work out the specifics.

How do you handle cats that are particularly timid or anxious?

Never forcing, always allowing Kitty to decide if they want me to approach them and I will wait for them to come to me. Kitties can sometimes feel threatened by direct eye contact, so I have learned a couple ways to approach them so they feel more comfortable. It is important to give them space and they usually will come around. If they let me pet them, I can usually do so in a way that helps them forget them are scared lol
