3. Food and water refills... I once adopted a tiny kitten who had jumped into a car engine. She was a very timid cat, and to bond with her, I researched many books on cat behavior and put in a lot of effort. Because of this, I consider myself good at dealing with shy cats; I give them ample space and respect. I've also done some research on cat food.

4. Detailed reporting, if requested, on your cat's eating habits (based on remaining food) and waste condition (based on litter box observations).
5. Basic cleanup of any unexpected messes, like vomit.
6. Playtime with your cat if time allows and your cat is willing. We respect that some shy cats may need time to warm up to their pet sitter.

What do you enjoy most about cat sitting?
Having owned cats myself, I understand the various worries that arise when owners think about leaving their feline companions home alone. I find it very rewarding to help alleviate these concerns for owners.
Do you have kitties yourself? What are their names?
I have a cat named Toto, whom I've raised from eight weeks old to adulthood. She's very timid and afraid of new environments. Because of this, I understand the benefits of in-home cat sitting, as some cats simply aren't suited to leaving their familiar surroundings.
What is your typical process for working with a new cat parent?
Understanding Your Cat's Needs It's important to understand your cat's personality (are they lively or introverted?), eating habits (what kind of dry or wet food do they eat, how many times a day, and approximately how much?), and elimination habits (how many times a day do they typically use the litter box, have there been any unusual incidents, and do they ever go outside the litter box?). Are there any medical conditions I should be aware of? By understanding their normal daily routine, I can better identify any behavioral changes that might occur due to their owners being away and a change in environment. I will always strictly follow any specific instructions or concerns that cat parents have.

He’s a scaredy cat that doesn’t approach new people a ton but by the 3rd day, she was able to woo him to play with his favorite wand toy. Holiday Surcharge
Due to high demand during holidays, sitters on Meowtel have the option to set their own holiday price increase, which can be found in the rates section of their profiles. If your reservation falls within three (3) days before and/or after a federal holiday, or on the holiday itself, a holiday surcharge, determined by your sitter, will be added to your reservation.
These are the date ranges in 2026 to which the holiday surcharge applies:
- January 1-4: New Year's 2026
- January 16-22: MLK Day
- February 13-19: Presidents Day
- May 22-28: Memorial Day
- June 16-22: Juneteenth
- July 1-7: July 4th
- September 4-10: Labor Day
- October 9-15: Columbus Day / Indigenous Peoples' Day
- November 8-14: Veterans Day

Frequently Asked Questions
Reservations officially begin at 12:00 AM in the sitter's time zone on the start date. Cat Parents may cancel within 24 hours of booking and receive a full refund, as long as the reservation has not yet started. After the first 24 hours, the following cancellation rules apply:
- More than 48 hours before the reservation start date: Full refund. The sitter will not receive any earnings.
- 24–48 hours before the reservation start date: 50% refund. The sitter will earn 50% of their planned earnings.
- Within 24 hours of the reservation start date (or after it has begun): No refund. The sitter will earn 100% of their planned earnings.
All refunds are initially applied to the Cat Parent's Meowtel Account Balance for use toward a future reservation or tip. Funds may be returned to the original payment method at any time.
Meowtel is a marketplace that connects cat parents with independent sitters. For eligible reservations booked and paid for through Meowtel, the Meowtel Promise explains how we support cat parents if something unexpected comes up.

Irvine cat sitting rates will vary based on the sitter's experience and services, but the average price is $33.00. Prices depend on visit duration (20, 45, or 60 minutes) and whether you need drop-in visits or overnight stays.

I highly recommend Emily! She took care of our cat for three weeks while we were traveling, and I felt completely at ease knowing she was looking after her.
