What is your experience with cat sitting, and how long have you been doing it?
Ive done cat sitting for friends when they go on trips sporadically over the last 10 or so years. I also have 2 cats of my own that are a year old but prior to that, I adopted a senior-ish kitty in 2016. I took care of him for 9 years before he sadly passed away from chronic kidney disease.
Do you have kitties yourself? What are their names?
I have 2 kitties, their names are Meatball and Selene. They are one year old approximately. They are both spayed and neutered
How do you handle cats that are particularly timid or anxious?
My own kittens were strays and very timid and anxious when I first adopted them. I gave them space while still being in the room with them while they got used to my presence and became curious. At that point I started to give treats and attempted to play with a bait rod so they were not forced to be too close to me.

Rita has a phenomenal approach to caring for cats. My cat is eight and extremely shy. My cat doesn't allow anyone to touch her, but me, her cat mom. My cat came out on day one, from her hiding place to crawl in Rita's lap. She's not even a lap cat. My cat loves her completely. Rita rocks!!!

Frequently Asked Questions
Reservations officially begin at 12:00 AM in the sitter's time zone on the start date. Cat Parents may cancel within 24 hours of booking and receive a full refund, as long as the reservation has not yet started. After the first 24 hours, the following cancellation rules apply:
- More than 48 hours before the reservation start date: Full refund. The sitter will not receive any earnings.
- 24–48 hours before the reservation start date: 50% refund. The sitter will earn 50% of their planned earnings.
- Within 24 hours of the reservation start date (or after it has begun): No refund. The sitter will earn 100% of their planned earnings.
All refunds are initially applied to the Cat Parent's Meowtel Account Balance for use toward a future reservation or tip. Funds may be returned to the original payment method at any time.
Meowtel is a marketplace that connects cat parents with independent sitters. For eligible reservations booked and paid for through Meowtel, the Meowtel Promise explains how we support cat parents if something unexpected comes up.
