I’m Miya, and I’ve dedicated my life to understanding and caring for our feline friends. When I’m not cat sitting, you can usually find me at the local animal shelter, where I volunteer weekly to deep-clean habitats, provide enrichment, and—most importantly—socialize cats who are waiting for their forever homes. This experience has given me a unique 'cat intuition,' allowing me to connect with everyone from the bravest kittens to the shyest seniors.

I am a true cat enthusiast who even spends my free time visiting cat cafes! My goal is to bring that same level of joy and specialized care to your home. With a background in Feline Behavior and Enrichment from the Animal Behavior Institute, I don't just 'check in' on your cats; I provide a calm, educated presence that ensures they feel safe, stimulated, and loved while you’re away.

Learn More About Miya

What is your experience with cat sitting, and how long have you been doing it?

I have been professionally pet sitting for over six years, though my life has been centered around cats since I was very young. My experience ranges from caring for my own "twin" boy cats in the past to my current orange tabby at home and my sister’s two cats. Beyond hands-on experience, I am dedicated to professional growth in feline care. I have successfully completed a "Feline Behavior and Enrichment" course through the Animal Behavior Institute and am currently finishing certifications in "Feline Training" and "Feline Health and Nutrition." This formal education allows me to understand cat body language and dietary needs at a deeper level, ensuring your cat is not just "watched," but truly understood.

What do you enjoy most about cat sitting?

I love cat sitting because every kitty is a unique "puzzle." I enjoy the process of meeting a new cat, staying calm, and letting them set the pace of our friendship. Whether they are high-energy explorers or shy hiders, I find it incredibly rewarding to earn their trust. I also love seeing the different environments and routines that make each cat happy—I am highly flexible and dedicated to following your specific instructions to ensure your cat’s absolute comfort while you’re away.

Do you have kitties yourself? What are their names?

Yes! I am a proud cat parent to a wonderful orange tabby (who definitely lives up to the "orange cat" reputation!). I also grew up with twin boys, and I am frequently the "go-to" sitter for my sister’s two cats. Being a cat owner myself, I treat every client’s cat with the same patience, love, and attention to detail that I give my own.

How do you ensure the safety & security of the cats and the home while cat sitting?

My approach to safety combines professional feline education with practical shelter experience. I begin every visit with a 'perimeter check,' ensuring all 'door-dashers' are secure and windows are locked. Drawing on my Feline Behavior and Health training, I am hyper-vigilant about identifying subtle medical red flags—such as changes in appetite or litter box habits—that others might overlook. I prioritize clear communication, providing a daily 'Proof of Life' photo and a detailed update so you never have to wonder about your cat’s well-being. Before you leave, I ensure I have your vet’s information and emergency contacts saved, treating your home and your feline family with the same obsessive care and 'cat-eye' detail I give my own.

I appreciated her sense of responsibility and her clear fondness of my two cats. She sent pictures regularly to let me know my cats were happy. She followed thru with her responsibilities, made sure to report any anomalies and communication was very pleasant and easy.

Meowtel is a marketplace that connects cat parents with independent sitters. For eligible reservations booked and paid for through Meowtel, the Meowtel Promise explains how we support cat parents if something unexpected comes up.

If it doesn't feel like a purrfect fit after a Meet & Greet or during a reservation, our support team is here to help at 1-844-Meowtel (1-844-636-9835). We'll take time to understand what happened and help you consider next steps, which could include help with a new reservation.

Every cat sitter on Meowtel completes a background check. Ask your sitter about a free Meet & Greet so you (and your kitties!) can feel comfortable with your sitter before you leave.

Cats are territorial animals and don't do well in new environments. The presence of other cats, dogs, and even birds in kennels or animal hotels cause an immense amount of stress. This is why Meowtel was created, so tailored in-home care is brought to you.

We recommend booking daily visits to keep your cats in their routine and help minimize feline anxiety while you're away.

Each visit typically includes: feeding, refreshing water bowls, litter box scooping, tidying up, medications, updates with photos, lots of playtime, and any special requests. Ask your sitter about a free Meet & Greet!
