Cat Sitting in Pasadena, CA

Caring for and learning from cats has been an important aspect of my life since I was a child.

We had many cats when I was growing up, but I got the most intense hands on experience when I cared for my first tiny week old orphan kitten named Sammy when I was just 12.

My Dad rescued him from the bushes at his work and brought home when I was on summer break. He initially needed around the clock care and several medications.

I learned the ins and outs of kitten care very quickly that summer with the help of our vet. Sammy ended up living happily with us until he finally passed away of old age when he was 18.

Since then, I’ve helped friends and neighbors with pet care and then worked professionally for the past 12 years as a pet sitter for all types of pets. I’ve also been a proud ASPCA volunteer specifically working with cats and kittens...

I’m excited to work with cats of all ages, personality types, and medical needs. I’m highly skilled at administering all forms of medicine including insulin and inhalers. I’ve also had experience with chemotherapy medication. Even difficult to medicate cats are no problem for me!

In addition to feeding, litter box cleaning, and playtime, I’m always happy to help with mail/packages pickup and plant care.

Outside of pet care, I have my own small retail business. My hobbies include: attending classic film screenings, thrifting, cooking and baking, and enjoying the outdoors.

I’m COVID conscious and will always wear a mask at the Meet and Greet. If you prefer, I’m happy to do a virtual Meet and Greet, instead.

**Note: if you have more than two cats, please book a 45 min or longer visit so I have time to cover all tasks and we have plenty of time left for playtime & pets. Longer visits are also great if you normally spend a lot of time at home and your cat(s) are used to lots of socializing.**

I look forward to getting to know you and your cat family 🩷

Learn More About Kae

What do you enjoy most about cat sitting?

I love getting to experience the unique personalities of each cat. My day to day work is never the same because I get the chance to work with so many awesome pets.

Do you have kitties yourself? What are their names?

We have a cat named Liza who is a very sweet black cat. She enjoys having her belly rubbed and will enthusiastically flop over like a dog to request rubs.

What is your typical process for working with a new cat parent?

I always make sure to get to know the basic routines of each cat, their personalities, and the specifics of their food and medication needs. Additionally, it’s important to get comfortable with the surroundings and note where important things are kept in the house including extra food & litter, preferred cleaning products, trash bags, and toys. I ask as many questions as I need to so both the pet parents and I feel comfortable and prepared before the upcoming visits.

How do you ensure the safety & security of the cats and the home while cat sitting?

Safety is my number one priority during a visit. At the beginning of the visit, I will always do a quick scan of the house/apartment to make sure everything looks right while I am also locating the cats. I make sure the cats are visible and they seem healthy and happy. I also ensure they have been eating and using the litter box. I will always note vomiting or diarrhea issues. At end of the visit, I make sure to secure all doors and windows. I also take pictures of the door being locked.

Are you usually available during holidays?

Yes, I work during/around all holidays. I’ve always held jobs that were open during holidays, so I’m used to it.

What is your favorite cat toy?

Wand toys with a ribbon are great to play with. Most cats have a lot of fun with those. Some have mice or feathers on the end, too!

How do you handle cats that are particularly timid or anxious?

I enjoy working with cats who are timid or anxious. As an ASPCA volunteer, I’ve dealt with that a lot as the shelter environment is very stressful. I make sure to always give new cats their space and be very quiet. I don’t make quick movements. I try to allow cats to come to me first. Usually, cats will eventually be curious enough to want to sniff my hand or my shoes. A little while later, I can introduce their food or a treat (if applicable). Sometimes, cats can be lured out of a hiding spot by their toys or YouTube videos of kittens meowing. Catnip or silvervine is usually a good bet, too. Consistency and patience are key.

Kae assisted me in providing medication to my ultra sensitive. Very professional and cared for the comfort of my boy first even if it meant waiting for him to calm down in between administering the meds.

Kae was very easy to schedule with, and my cats had a great meeting together with her on the 'interview' day. She gave daily updates and photos and it was clear the kitties were in good hands. Highly recommend.

Kae is an expert kitty sitter. We are so glad she was available to care for our geriatric cat that has some medical issues. She is skilled at giving medication and good at dealing with an older cat’s idiosyncrasies. Communication was excellent.

I’m grateful to have found Kae to care for my cats. Kae was reliable and made sure their basic needs were met—feeding them on time, keeping the litter box clean, and making sure they were comfortable. I appreciated coming home to content cats and a tidy home. Easy to communicate with, and it gave me peace of mind knowing they were in good hands while I was away.

Meowtel is a marketplace that connects cat parents with independent sitters. For eligible reservations booked and paid for through Meowtel, the Meowtel Promise explains how we support cat parents if something unexpected comes up.

If it doesn't feel like a purrfect fit after a Meet & Greet or during a reservation, our support team is here to help at 1-844-Meowtel (1-844-636-9835). We'll take time to understand what happened and help you consider next steps, which could include help with a new reservation.

Pasadena cat sitting rates will vary based on the sitter's experience and services, but the average price is $35.00. Prices depend on visit duration (20, 45, or 60 minutes) and whether you need drop-in visits or overnight stays.

Every cat sitter on Meowtel completes a background check. Ask your sitter about a free Meet & Greet so you (and your kitties!) can feel comfortable with your sitter before you leave.

Cats are territorial animals and don't do well in new environments. The presence of other cats, dogs, and even birds in kennels or animal hotels cause an immense amount of stress. This is why Meowtel was created, so tailored in-home care is brought to you.

We recommend booking daily visits to keep your cats in their routine and help minimize feline anxiety while you're away.

Each visit typically includes: feeding, refreshing water bowls, litter box scooping, tidying up, medications, updates with photos, lots of playtime, and any special requests. Ask your sitter about a free Meet & Greet!
