She and Malibu got into a perfect routine. On our second day away, Sarah found Malibu outside our bedroom just staring at the door (it was so sad to see)… when she sent us a picture of this, we immediately requested a FaceTime so we could talk to Malibu and Sarah was very accommodating, which made us feel so much better (and seemingly made Malibu feel better as well). There was one situation that arose with regard to the lock on our front door. Sarah contacted us immediately by phone, and, when she wasn’t able to reach us by phone, she texted us. Because of her diligence, we were able to take care of it immediately. When there were any changes in energy level, bathroom use, or eating habits, Sarah showed genuine concern and mentioned them to us so we had an opportunity to make any changes that might be necessary. I was especially impressed and relaxed by Mary's own experience with semi-feral cats. (I adopted mine as an adult and I never learned her "origin story" but I suspect she was a street cat). She is calm and communicative with cats in a way that they immediately respond to. Every day during my trip, Mary sent many pictures for both breakfast and dinner visits. "Laura was absolutely wonderful taking care of our cat, Cat Stevens, while we were away. She was diligent, detail-oriented, dependable, and incredibly communicative throughout our trip. Taking care of Cat Stevens is a somewhat unusual cat-sitting assignment because she hides whenever we’re gone. So instead of getting to spend time playing with or cuddling a cat, Laura essentially had the job of caring for a phantom. She would arrive at a quiet, apparently cat-free house, scoop the litter box, replace yesterday’s empty food plate with a fresh one, check the water, and leave—only to return the next day and discover that the food had magically disappeared. For someone who loves cats, I imagine it’s not the most exciting or rewarding assignment! Nevertheless, Laura treated every visit with the same care and attention. She followed our instructions closely, showed up exactly when we asked her to, and sent us photos every single day of Cat Stevens’ food, water, and litter box so we knew she was eating, drinking, and being well cared for. She was also thoughtful about the house, bringing in packages and keeping us informed about anything we needed to know. For me, the most important thing when leaving home isn’t really the house—it’s knowing that I can trust someone completely with our little girl. Laura gave us that peace of mind. "We have worked with Carrie a few times but this was our first long reservation with her (10 days). Everything went smoothly, my cats Lola and Laurel both have pre existing health conditions (well under control but can be exacerbated by stress) and Carrie monitored them closely for potential signs and symptoms. One day Laurel started having some unusual litter box issues (it was not clear if she was developing urinary symptoms, which she is prone to, or if she was constipated) and Carrie immediately brought those issues to our attention. We were able to troubleshoot together, thankfully it was nothing serious and Carrie was able to pay our cats an additional visit that same day to give them extra attention and to make sure Laurel was feeling better. We were hugely reassured and very grateful for her attentiveness and availability. In addition, I was positively surprised by how easy it was to book an additional visit for the same day on the fly on the Meowtel portal, I had never needed to do that before. We were thrilled to be able to work with Carrie again, the peace of mind she was able to give us while we were on vacation was unparalleled and we look forward to working with her in the future.
