I'm Jillian

Cat Sitting in Marina Del Rey, CA

My life has revolved around cats since before I can remember. I raised my first cat starting at age 12, and it was through that bond – and eventually through loss – that I found my calling. When my cat was diagnosed with kidney disease at 14, I learned firsthand what it means to provide complex, hands-on medical care: subcutaneous fluids, multiple medications, and the kind of vigilance that only love can sustain. After she passed, I realized I had more than enough heart to extend that same devotion to other cats, and I have never looked back.

Since then, I have logged countless hours of drop-ins and overnights across the westside of LA, and what has never changed is this: caring for cats, no matter how specific or complex the needs, gives me a profound sense of purpose. My heart belongs to the feline species.

Since then, I have logged countless hours of drop-ins and overnights across the westside of LA, and what has never changed is this: caring for cats, no matter how specific or complex the needs, gives me a profound sense of purpose. My heart belongs to the feline species.

What I Specialize In
My niche is complex kitty cases. I am comfortable with subcutaneous fluids, insulin injections, oral medications, and high-medical-needs cats, as well as neonatal kittens. I am currently enrolled in a vet tech program to deepen my clinical knowledge and better serve my clients. I also have hands-on experience with rescue cats through intake, enrichment, and care coordination, so I am accustomed to cats of all temperaments, backgrounds, and stress levels. That said, if your cat is perfectly healthy and just needs love, enrichment, and attentive care while you are away, I bring that same level of dedication to every single reservation.

Why Pet Parents Trust Me
I have spent years working with cats that require specialist-level care, including those recovering from illness, adjusting to new environments, or simply needing a patient, experienced hand. I know how to read feline body language, respect boundaries, and build trust with cats who may be shy, anxious, or slow to warm up. Whether your cat is a social butterfly or a hide-under-the-bed introvert, I will meet them exactly where they are.

I also think carefully about what I would want if I were hiring a cat sitter myself: someone trustworthy, detail-oriented, and genuinely invested in my cats’ wellbeing – not just their basic needs. That standard shapes every visit I make. For stays of a week or more, I include a light tidy at no extra charge: clean bowls, fresh water, plant watering, and general upkeep, because I believe cats thrive in a consistently clean, safe, and enriching environment. In the event of an emergency, your cat’s safety comes first, always.

A Little More About Me
I am based in Marina del Rey and love meeting the cats of the coastal westside. By day I work in human resources, which gives me the schedule flexibility to be fully present and responsive for my clients. I treat every reservation with the same care and professionalism I bring to everything I do, and my goal is simple: that your cat feels completely at home while you are away.

Feel free to reach out with any questions. I am happy to chat!

Please be mindful of how much time your kitty needs. If they are affectionate and need lots of love, consider a 45 or 60 min drop in vs 20 min. If your kitty hides, 20 mins might be better.

What is your experience with cat sitting, and how long have you been doing it?

I have been caring for cats for over 25 years, from playful kittens to seniors with complex needs. Along the way I have developed a deep ability to read feline behavior, earn the trust of shy or anxious cats, and make every kitty feel safe and at home while their humans are away. I am also experienced in hands-on medical care, including oral medications, subcutaneous fluids, and injections. Whether your cat needs daily companionship, consistent routines, or specialized medical support, I bring the same level of reliability and compassion to every visit.

What do you enjoy most about cat sitting?

What I love most about cat sitting is earning each kitty’s trust and discovering what makes them unique. Whether it is a kitten chasing toys, a senior who just wants to snuggle, or a special-needs cat who needs a little extra patience, I meet every cat exactly where they are. With over 25 years of experience, including hands-on medical care, my goal is simple: every cat feels safe, loved, and understood, and every pet parent leaves with complete peace of mind.

Can you tell us about your favorite cat sitting reservation?

One of my favorite recent sits was a three-week stay with a very timid calico. Her owner was worried she would spend the entire time hiding, and at first, she did. But with patience and consistency, by the end of the first week she was purring, kneading, and greeting me at the door. Moments like that are exactly why I do this. I also make it a priority to keep pet parents connected while they are away. I use my Ray-Ban Meta glasses to send photos and videos that make you feel like you are right there in the room with your cat, not just a quick snapshot, but real moments that give you genuine peace of mind.

Do you have kitties yourself? What are their names?

At home I share my life with my own trio: Milo, a seven-year-old flame point ragdoll; Willow, a two-year-old tortoiseshell ragdoll; and Eli, a one-year-old Maine Coon who just celebrated his first birthday. They keep me company every day, and the love I have for them is honestly what fuels everything I do as a cat sitter. When you have that much love, you feel compelled to spread it. My own cats also keep my skills sharp. Between supplements on hot days, subcutaneous fluids, injections, specialty water, and top-tier food, my trio lives very well. I joke that they live better than I do, and honestly, I would not have it any other way. What I provide for them is exactly the standard I bring to every cat in my care.

What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a cat sitter?

Finding the right sitter is about more than food and litter. It is about keeping your kitty happy and giving yourself real peace of mind. Here are a few tips to help you choose: 1. Paw-sitive Experience – Ask how long they have been caring for cats and whether they have experience with kittens, seniors, or special-needs furkids. 2. Purr-sonality Fit – A great sitter will want to know your cat’s quirks, routines, and favorite hidey spots before the first visit. 3. Health and Fur-st Aid – If your kitty needs medications, fluids, or any specialized TLC, make sure your sitter has genuine hands-on experience, not just a willingness to try. 4. Meow-ssages and Updates – Look for someone who sends daily photos and videos so you never feel far from your whiskered family member. 5. Trust Your Cat-stincts – Cats sense good energy. Choose someone calm, patient, and genuinely feline-obsessed. With the right sitter, your kitty will be feline fine.

What is your typical process for working with a new cat parent?

When I meet a new cat parent, I start with a “purr-sonality chat” covering everything from feeding times and litter box habits to favorite toys, nap spots, and quirks. If your cat needs medication or special care, I go over every instruction in detail so nothing gets missed. I always recommend a “meet-and-treat” beforehand so your kitty can sniff me out on their own terms and you can ask any questions. Once a reservation begins, I send regular “meow-ssages” with photos and updates so you feel close to your cat even while you are away. My goal is simple: consistent routines, minimal stress, and two happy clients – the human and the feline.

How do you ensure the safety & security of the cats and the home while cat sitting?

Your cat’s safety is always my top priority. Before every visit I secure doors and windows, verify food, water, and litter are properly managed, and follow your home routines exactly as instructed. I stay attentive to each cat’s behavior and health, watching for any signs of stress or illness so I can respond quickly if something seems off. My experience with medications, fluids, and specialized care means I can handle both routine needs and unexpected situations calmly and responsibly. I keep communication consistent with regular updates so you always know your kitty is safe and happy. In the event of an emergency such as a fire or natural disaster, your cat comes with me. Full stop.

Are you usually available during holidays?

Because of our schedules, my husband and I spend most holidays at home, which means I am almost always available when other sitters are not. If you need coverage on Thanksgiving, Christmas, New Year’s, or any other holiday, I am likely free and happy to help. I also love finding reasons to celebrate with the cats in my care. Whether it is Christmas, Hanukkah, Kwanzaa, a birthday, or a gotcha day, I am always up for marking the occasion and making your kitty feel extra special.

What is your favorite cat toy?

When it comes to enrichment, I am a big fan of wand toys with feathers – nothing gets those zoomies going like a good hunt. Puzzle feeders and treat balls are also favorites for curious kitties who like to work for their snacks. But honestly, the best toy is whatever makes your cat’s eyes light up, whether that is a crinkle ball, a cardboard box, or that mysterious paper bag that appeared out of nowhere. I have also been known to show up with a little something for the cats I sit. It is my small way of saying thank you for simply letting me be in their presence.

How do you handle cats that are particularly timid or anxious?

With shy or anxious kitties, patience and calm energy are everything. I always let them set the pace, never forcing interaction, but making myself a quiet, consistent presence they can approach when they are ready. Soft voices, slow blinks, and gentle movements go a long way in telling a cat they are safe. I stick closely to familiar routines as well, feeding times, play, and litter habits, because consistency is one of the best stress reducers there is. Sometimes just sitting nearby while a cat watches from their favorite hiding spot is enough to build real trust over time. My goal is a calm, secure environment where even the most timid kitty eventually feels at home.

If it doesn't feel like a purrfect fit after a Meet & Greet or during a reservation, our support team is here to help at 1-844-Meowtel (1-844-636-9835). We'll take time to understand what happened and help you consider next steps, which could include help with a new reservation.

Every cat sitter on Meowtel completes a background check. Ask your sitter about a free Meet & Greet so you (and your kitties!) can feel comfortable with your sitter before you leave.

Cats are territorial animals and don't do well in new environments. The presence of other cats, dogs, and even birds in kennels or animal hotels cause an immense amount of stress. This is why Meowtel was created, so tailored in-home care is brought to you.

We recommend booking daily visits to keep your cats in their routine and help minimize feline anxiety while you're away.

Each visit typically includes: feeding, refreshing water bowls, litter box scooping, tidying up, medications, updates with photos, lots of playtime, and any special requests. Ask your sitter about a free Meet & Greet!
