What is your experience with cat sitting, and how long have you been doing it?
I grew up with cats and have done home visits and overnight stays with cats for the better part of a decade. I can administer medicine and drops and will ensure cats have play and exercise.
What do you enjoy most about cat sitting?
I love the company of cats and feeling their purrs of happiness. It is also incredibly fun pulling out the lasers or string toys to watch them hunt. And even if they don’t want to snuggle, I relish the opportunity to observe them and make sure they are properly fed and cared for.
Can you tell us about your favorite cat sitting reservation?
Link is a sweet calico cat who is a bit mischievous and very playful. Whenever I stop by, he lies in wait on a cabinet or shelf and jumps up on my shoulders and purrs in my ear. He is always adventuring by climbing to impossible places, like the top of a door (somehow) and likes to sneak attack you from up high. He is also notorious for knocking over items so you have to stay on your toes about putting things down. He never tires of playing and can run around chasing the laser for hours. I do appreciate that he also loves to snuggle and will sleep in a spoon next to me through most of the night. Although he is particular about food (no chicken, only fish) he does remind you when it’s 5:01 and you’re late to give him his dinner. He gets along with
How do you ensure the safety & security of the cats and the home while cat sitting?
This is number 1: I make sure all escape routes are blocked (that means coming in the main door very carefully and intentionally for those who like to dash out!). I make sure to clean the food and water bowls to avoid germ build-up. I clean the litter boxes regularly and make sure they are drinking enough water (a big issue with cats is dehydration). I'm also sure to double check the door is locked when I leave and everything is secured (no cups left out they can knock over!).

My super shy cat was in love. our cat with the attitude lol. she did go out of her way because we had issues with the new Wi-Fi lock on our door and getting her access so we work something out while we were out out of country and she was able to come every day and take care of them for us. We look forward to booking her again in March but she doesn’t know that yet !!!

Frequently Asked Questions
Reservations officially begin at 12:00 AM in the sitter's time zone on the start date. Cat Parents may cancel within 24 hours of booking and receive a full refund, as long as the reservation has not yet started. After the first 24 hours, the following cancellation rules apply:
- More than 48 hours before the reservation start date: Full refund. The sitter will not receive any earnings.
- 24–48 hours before the reservation start date: 50% refund. The sitter will earn 50% of their planned earnings.
- Within 24 hours of the reservation start date (or after it has begun): No refund. The sitter will earn 100% of their planned earnings.
All refunds are initially applied to the Cat Parent's Meowtel Account Balance for use toward a future reservation or tip. Funds may be returned to the original payment method at any time.

Oakland cat sitting rates will vary based on the sitter's experience and services, but the average price is $39.00. Prices depend on visit duration (20, 45, or 60 minutes) and whether you need drop-in visits or overnight stays.
