I am a huge cat lover and compassionate cat caretaker. I range in experience from firstborn kitties to the old and wise over 20 years old. I am well versed in cats with medical assistance from seizures to dietary restrictions.
I am fluent in psst-psst and an Olympian in playing feather strings with your fur baby.
I have had cats my entire life and taking care of them is second nature.
I work many different types of jobs so typically my schedule is flexible.
Most times of days or nights work for me in the Bay Area, overnight is optional as well. Based in Oakland.

Learn More About Karly

What is your experience with cat sitting, and how long have you been doing it?

I've been cat sitting for over 10 years with cats personalities ranging from super hyper to incredibly shy. I find myself able to adapt to any personality quite easily. I grew up and have sat cats that had seizures, cats that have needed medications, special attention and care, and much more.

What do you enjoy most about cat sitting?

I love being able to bond and hang out with cats, they have always been my preferred pet my entire life. I've never found myself unable to get along with any cat which feels like a huge blessing. Hanging out with your furry friend brings me as much joy (if not more) than it does them.

Can you tell us about your favorite cat sitting reservation?

One of my favorite cat listings have come back to me time and time again, they are two cats who just love to play and have the most eccentric personalities, are incredibly loving, and of course filled with sweetness.

Do you have kitties yourself? What are their names?

I do! Currently I have a two year old shorthair kitty named Lady. She has the most beautiful silky black coat, has a clipped ear, and one eye. I adopted her through a cat fostering non-profit that saves kitties off the streets and takes care of them. She has always been super shy and was a scaredy cat when I first got her, but over time her personality has shined brightly and I considered her my soulmate. She is outspoken, adorable and brings my heart joy everyday. She is very picky with people and I find myself so lucky that she has grown so trusting and close with me.

What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a cat sitter?

I always recommend having toys for cat sitters to keep your kitty entertained and to burn off some energy (depending on age of course). If they are more relaxed or senior, having treats, a kitty brush or just some of their favorite blankets out will allow them to feel more comfort about your sitter :)

What is your typical process for working with a new cat parent?

I usually meet and greet with new cat parents, get shown around to where their litter is, cat food, and water stations. It's helpful to point out their favorite toys and hiding spots and just getting a general idea of their personality. Typically when parents are gone and it is the cat sitter and the cat alone, they typically come out of hiding (if they tend to hide around new people) after about 5-10 minutes.

How do you ensure the safety & security of the cats and the home while cat sitting?

I always make sure to communicate where the key should be left once the reservation is complete, such as locking the bottom (if possible) and leaving the key on the table, or if there is a key hand off that is needed after. As for the cats, I make sure that there is nothing out that they could get into that would harm their health and safety when I'm gone and overall ensuring, especially on longer visits, that areas are kept up and clean.

Are you usually available during holidays?

Yes :) I am usually in the area during most holidays, you will see per my availability calendar, I tend to prioritize cat sitting!

What is your favorite cat toy?

I love a good wand toy, it allows for a lot of variation with play and tends to keep cats engaged for the majority of the time.

How do you handle cats that are particularly timid or anxious?

I'm a very gentle person, I find that shy or timid cats tend to be more drawn to me. Just keeping a calm and present energy usually works so that they feel comfortable and in-charge when they are getting use to a new person.

Karly was a lifesaver! When my original sitter fell through while I was out of the country, she accepted my request right away and was great with communication. Even though we couldn’t meet beforehand, she was friendly, understanding, and took wonderful care of my cats. I’m so grateful for her help and would absolutely recommend her.

As always Karly did an excellent job. she managed to charm our somewhat shy cat. Traveling internationally for two weeks was stressful and it gave us great piece of mind that our kitty was not only having her physical (medication, food, litter) needs met but was getting tlc as well. Karly always sent timely and enthusiastic updates as well as great photos from each visit.

Karly was great cat sitting our two kitties Stella and Coco while we traveled abroad, and she was very reassuring with regular updates. We were impressed and thrilled with her making a wonderful connection right away with our shy kitty. We, including the kitties can't wait to have her sit for us again!

This week

Karly was very sweet to my cat Ziggy who has some separation anxiety, especially after a recent move. She was communicative about timing and sent great pictures. Ziggy seemed to really be comfortable with her and she made sure to give him lots of love and attention.

I can’t recommend Karly enough! I’ve used her more than once, and she’ll continue to be my go-to cat sitter. She’s incredibly kind, communicative, and reliable. She always sends me updates and photos, follows every instruction perfectly, and takes the time to play with my cats instead of just stopping by to feed them. One thing that really stood out to me is that my cats were comfortable with her right away, even when she came over without me there. They’re usually cautious around new people, so I think that says a lot about how gentle and caring she is with animals. It’s such a relief knowing they’re in good hands whenever I’m away. I highly recommend her to anyone looking for someone trustworthy to care for their cats!

Meowtel is a marketplace that connects cat parents with independent sitters. For eligible reservations booked and paid for through Meowtel, the Meowtel Promise explains how we support cat parents if something unexpected comes up.

If it doesn't feel like a purrfect fit after a Meet & Greet or during a reservation, our support team is here to help at 1-844-Meowtel (1-844-636-9835). We'll take time to understand what happened and help you consider next steps, which could include help with a new reservation.

Oakland cat sitting rates will vary based on the sitter's experience and services, but the average price is $39.00. Prices depend on visit duration (20, 45, or 60 minutes) and whether you need drop-in visits or overnight stays.

Every cat sitter on Meowtel completes a background check. Ask your sitter about a free Meet & Greet so you (and your kitties!) can feel comfortable with your sitter before you leave.

Cats are territorial animals and don't do well in new environments. The presence of other cats, dogs, and even birds in kennels or animal hotels cause an immense amount of stress. This is why Meowtel was created, so tailored in-home care is brought to you.

We recommend booking daily visits to keep your cats in their routine and help minimize feline anxiety while you're away.

Each visit typically includes: feeding, refreshing water bowls, litter box scooping, tidying up, medications, updates with photos, lots of playtime, and any special requests. Ask your sitter about a free Meet & Greet!
