What is your experience with cat sitting, and how long have you been doing it?

I’ve been cat sitting for over 20 years. I started in college catsitting for an elderly cat named Harriet which led me to getting my first cat Pepper. Over the years, I’ve mostly catsit for friends or people finding me through word of mouth through my social network. Catsitting is a great way for me to hang out with cats since I now live in a house that does not allow any more pets.

What is your typical process for working with a new cat parent?

I like to start by having a chat to get to know about both you and your cat. I’ll ask about your cats routine, preferences, and any specific needs they have. I also like to know how much interaction they enjoy and any do’s or don’ts in terms of handling. Pets love their routine, so I’ll try to keep as consistent and stress-free for them as possible. Communication is really important so I can definitely keep you updated with regular check-ins and pictures if that helps you rest easy knowing your cat is in good hands.

How do you handle cats that are particularly timid or anxious?

Patience and a calm, gentle approach is key. I usually let them come to me at their own pace. I don’t force interaction but try to create positive associations by offering toys and/or treats and creating a calm environment so they feel safe.

Highly recommend booking with Mindy! My two shy-ish cats warmed right up to her, so I felt totally at ease while I was away. I looked forward to her updates and photos each day, and came home to happy, relaxed cats. She is reliable, communicative, and clearly someone who loves cats!

Mindy was a wonderful cat-sitter! We got photo updates of our cats which was really nice to see. She went above and beyond when one of our cats got a hairball and she helped clean up, which she didn’t have to do (but we very much appreciated the help). We will definitely book her again!

Reservations officially begin at 12:00 AM in the sitter's time zone on the start date. Cat Parents may cancel within 24 hours of booking and receive a full refund, as long as the reservation has not yet started. After the first 24 hours, the following cancellation rules apply:

More than 48 hours before the reservation start date: Full refund. The sitter will not receive any earnings.
24–48 hours before the reservation start date: 50% refund. The sitter will earn 50% of their planned earnings.
Within 24 hours of the reservation start date (or after it has begun): No refund. The sitter will earn 100% of their planned earnings.

All refunds are initially applied to the Cat Parent's Meowtel Account Balance for use toward a future reservation or tip. Funds may be returned to the original payment method at any time.

Meowtel is a marketplace that connects cat parents with independent sitters. For eligible reservations booked and paid for through Meowtel, the Meowtel Promise explains how we support cat parents if something unexpected comes up.
