What is your typical process for working with a new cat parent?
When I work with a new cat parent, I start by reviewing a simple care questionnaire. This helps me understand the catās routine, personality, feeding schedule, medical needs, and any special instructions. Before the first visit, I make sure I fully understand the catās environment and expectations so I can follow their routine as closely as possible. During visits, I follow the agreed routine step by step, while also observing the catās behavior closely to make sure they are comfortable and doing well. After each visit, I send updates with notes and photos so owners can feel reassured while they are away.
How do you ensure the safety & security of the cats and the home while cat sitting?
Safety is always my first priority for both cats and the home. During each visit, I make sure all doors, windows, and entry points are secure before I focus on anything else. I follow the ownerās instructions carefully and keep the environment consistent so cats can stay in their normal routine. I also pay close attention to eating, drinking, litter box habits, and behavior changes so I can quickly notice anything unusual. If anything seems off, I will contact the owner right away. I also treat every home with the same respect and care I would expect for my own.
How do you handle cats that are particularly timid or anxious?
I have a lot of experience with shy, anxious, and sensitive cats through fostering, rescue work, and TNVR programs. With these cats, I never force interaction. Instead, I give them space, move slowly, and let them approach on their own terms. I focus on building trust through consistency and calm presence. Sometimes that means simply sitting quietly nearby, or keeping interactions very minimal until the cat feels safe. Over time, Iāve learned that patience and predictability make a huge difference for nervous cats, and I always adjust my approach based on their comfort level.

Holiday Surcharge
Due to high demand during holidays, sitters on Meowtel have the option to set their own holiday price increase, which can be found in the rates section of their profiles. If your reservation falls within three (3) days before and/or after a federal holiday, or on the holiday itself, a holiday surcharge, determined by your sitter, will be added to your reservation.

Frequently Asked Questions
Reservations officially begin at 12:00 AM in the sitter's time zone on the start date. Cat Parents may cancel within 24 hours of booking and receive a full refund, as long as the reservation has not yet started. After the first 24 hours, the following cancellation rules apply:
- More than 48 hours before the reservation start date: Full refund. The sitter will not receive any earnings.
- 24–48 hours before the reservation start date: 50% refund. The sitter will earn 50% of their planned earnings.
- Within 24 hours of the reservation start date (or after it has begun): No refund. The sitter will earn 100% of their planned earnings.
All refunds are initially applied to the Cat Parent's Meowtel Account Balance for use toward a future reservation or tip. Funds may be returned to the original payment method at any time.
