I have decades of experience with cats. I started out having cats as pets and later in life married someone who is allergic to most animals. Because of that, I started doing volunteer work first at my local pet store that had rescue cats for adoption and then through a large nationally known rescue. I have also volunteered in their pet hospital, assisting the vet techs and the veterinarians. While the rescue is all about senior pets, they occasionally take in kittens and I have had the pleasure of bottle feeding a newborn kitten, as well as the normal stuff of playing with and handling the kittens to get them ready for adoption. I currently do cat drop-in visits in Poway, CA and the immediate surrounding area. In very rare cases, I am available for overnight sitting... Due to increases in COL, I have had to greatly reduce my service area and raise rates for a couple zip codes. My calendar doesn't show overnight availability because it's so rare. Please inquire if you are looking for overnight service and do not need me to be there during the day.
Prior to starting my cat care business, I worked in a natural food/supply store for cats and dogs and am very comfortable with all types of diets. I can do medication and any additional supplements that your kitty needs. I am certified in pet CPR and first aid. Some of my clients have not gotten around to reviewing me. That has dropped my ranking in the search. Please don't let that concern you. 100% of my clients have told me that they will book with me again.
Depending on the length of the visits and how many kitties you have, I will spend time extra time playing and giving lots of love to your cats. If you have a shyer kitty, I tend to talk a lot while I am doing the chores so that they will get more comfortable with me. I will treat your cats and your home with the utmost respect and initial meet and greets in my service area are always free. I accept clients in Poway and the immediate surrounding area.
I normally see clients between 7am-2pm. I tend to be busy on a regular basis. If you are flexible with the timing of the visits, it's much easier for me to work you into my schedule. While I will continue to see my current clients for evening visits, I am not taking any new evening clients. Additional tasks that I can do during the visits are mail collection, taking trash to the curb and watering your plants. If you have a lot of plants, I recommend booking 45 minutes or 60 minutes so that I still have plenty of time to play with and love on your kitties. My Holiday rate is currently 20%.
When I am not working with or volunteering with animals, I enjoy hiking on the nearby trails and swimming in my pool and all things Disney.

What do you enjoy most about cat sitting?
I love getting to hang out with kitties and to form long term relationships with them. Since my husband has severe allergies, my cat sitting clients are the closest thing to having my own kitties.
Can you tell us about your favorite cat sitting reservation?
One of my favorite cat sitting jobs was with a senior cat who was known to keep to himself or hide when sitters come by. He ended up following me around and checking to make sure I was doing a good job. Since then, I have sat for him many times and we've played with toys, had conversations where he talks a lot and one time he even came running to the door to greet me.
What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a cat sitter?
Ask lots of questions! You can get a good feeling about the sitter by asking questions. Scheduling a meet and greet is crucial to assess the sitter's confidence in caring for your kitties and your home.
What is your typical process for working with a new cat parent?
I like to verify times and dates and get an idea about their service expectations. If I believe that we are a good fit, I like to set up a meet and greet ASAP. I prefer if all household members are available for the meet and greet, but it's okay if that doesn't work out. I make sure that I understand exactly what is expected of me. I explain what a typical visit will be like from when I enter and greet their cats to when I lock up and leave. I am always available for follow up questions/instructions before and during the sitting.
How do you ensure the safety & security of the cats and the home while cat sitting?
I never leave doors or windows open. I keep the keys and my phone on my person at all times during the visit so I don't accidentally lock myself out while taking out trash, watering outdoor plants, etc. I expect to have a visual on each cat at each visit no matter how shy they are. I will ask where their normal hiding places are. I monitor the food intake and how much they are eliminating each day to measure their health and stress level.
Are you usually available during holidays?
I am often available during holidays. I prefer to book my regular/repeat clients during the busier/ end of year holiday seasons.
What is your favorite cat toy?
I especially enjoy playing with all of the fishing pole type toys. I love seeing their little faces get so surprised when I move the toy. I've also seen some amazing acrobats from some of my kitty clients while playing with the pole toys.
How do you handle cats that are particularly timid or anxious?
Many cats prefer seeing the same caregivers vs a new person all the time. I strive to keep my client base small in order to offer my clients the best service availability. I speak kindly and lovingly to the more timid kitties. I try to keep their care as consistent as to what they are accustomed to. When all the regular chores are done, I will sit near the shyer cats and just hang out so that they get used to me.

Frequently Asked Questions
Reservations officially begin at 12:00 AM in the sitter's time zone on the start date. Cat Parents may cancel within 24 hours of booking and receive a full refund, as long as the reservation has not yet started. After the first 24 hours, the following cancellation rules apply:
- More than 48 hours before the reservation start date: Full refund. The sitter will not receive any earnings.
- 24–48 hours before the reservation start date: 50% refund. The sitter will earn 50% of their planned earnings.
- Within 24 hours of the reservation start date (or after it has begun): No refund. The sitter will earn 100% of their planned earnings.
All refunds are initially applied to the Cat Parent's Meowtel Account Balance for use toward a future reservation or tip. Funds may be returned to the original payment method at any time.
Meowtel is a marketplace that connects cat parents with independent sitters. For eligible reservations booked and paid for through Meowtel, the Meowtel Promise explains how we support cat parents if something unexpected comes up.

Poway cat sitting rates will vary based on the sitter's experience and services, but the average price is $33.00. Prices depend on visit duration (20, 45, or 60 minutes) and whether you need drop-in visits or overnight stays.
