What is your experience with cat sitting, and how long have you been doing it?
I began cat sitting in March 2024, so I’ve now been caring for other people’s cats for over 2 years. Alongside my experience as a cat parent, this has given me a strong foundation in understanding feline behavior and care. Over the past year, I’ve worked with a wide variety of cats — each with their own personalities, needs, and quirks — which has helped me become adaptable, attentive, and confident in providing top-quality care. Every new sit has broadened my perspective and deepened my love for working with both cats and their humans!
What do you enjoy most about cat sitting?
What I enjoy most about cat sitting is being able to support fellow cat parents. As a cat parent myself, I understand how stressful it can be to leave your fur babies behind — and I love being someone who helps ease that worry. I also genuinely enjoy meeting new kitties, getting to know their unique personalities, and continuing to learn more about cat behavior with every sit. Each experience teaches me something new, and it’s a true joy to be able to help both cats and their humans feel safe and cared for!
What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a cat sitter?
I always encourage cat parents to look for someone who is patient, observant, and truly respectful of each cat’s unique personality. A good sitter should move at the cat’s pace, communicate clearly, and treat your home with care and integrity. As a cat parent myself, I know how important it is to feel peace of mind when you’re away. Trust your instincts, ask questions, and choose someone who will care for your cats not just as a task, but as their own fur baby. The right sitter will make both you and your cats feel at ease.
What is your typical process for working with a new cat parent?
Customer satisfaction is always my top priority, and I take pride in building strong, trusting relationships with every cat parent I work with! Here’s what you can expect when working with me as a new client: Understanding Your Needs We’ll start with a conversation about your cat’s personality, routine, and any special care instructions. I want to make sure I fully understand what matters most to both you and your cat. Meet & Greet (Optional but Recommended) I always offer a meet & greet before the booking. While not required, it's a great opportunity for us to connect in person, for me to meet your cat(s), and to walk through the home and clarify any details that might not come through in messages. Final Confirmation & Details Once you're ready to move forward, I’ll confirm the booking, and we’ll finalize any remaining instructions to ensure everything goes smoothly while you're away.
How do you handle cats that are particularly timid or anxious?
Many of the cats I’ve worked with have been timid or anxious, so I’m very comfortable with that temperament. I take a hands-off approach and let the cat come to me on their terms. If they have a safe hiding spot, I respect that space and allow them to retreat if they need comfort. This gentle, respectful method has worked well for every cat I’ve sat for. In fact, my most recent client was surprised when their shy cat warmed up to me on the very first day!

She is incredibly sweet, responsible, and always timely. My cat Gracie is very skittish since she came from an animal shelter, so I was nervous at first, but Gracie warmed up to her quickly, came out to play, and even let her pet her, which says everything. Miracle is amazing!! My cat immediately loved her & he’s usually slow to warm up. I knew instantly he was in good hands. She was so great I can’t possibly list everything. Most importantly my cat needs medication daily which has been a struggle for me. Miracle was not only able to get him to take it daily but taught me a new method which is so much easier. The house was immaculate, she kept me updated and followed all instructions perfectly. I will definitely be using her again & highly recommend Miracle

Holiday Surcharge
Due to high demand during holidays, sitters on Meowtel have the option to set their own holiday price increase, which can be found in the rates section of their profiles. If your reservation falls within three (3) days before and/or after a federal holiday, or on the holiday itself, a holiday surcharge, determined by your sitter, will be added to your reservation.

- February 13-19: Presidents Day

Frequently Asked Questions
Reservations officially begin at 12:00 AM in the sitter's time zone on the start date. Cat Parents may cancel within 24 hours of booking and receive a full refund, as long as the reservation has not yet started. After the first 24 hours, the following cancellation rules apply:
- More than 48 hours before the reservation start date: Full refund. The sitter will not receive any earnings.
- 24–48 hours before the reservation start date: 50% refund. The sitter will earn 50% of their planned earnings.
- Within 24 hours of the reservation start date (or after it has begun): No refund. The sitter will earn 100% of their planned earnings.
All refunds are initially applied to the Cat Parent's Meowtel Account Balance for use toward a future reservation or tip. Funds may be returned to the original payment method at any time.
Meowtel is a marketplace that connects cat parents with independent sitters. For eligible reservations booked and paid for through Meowtel, the Meowtel Promise explains how we support cat parents if something unexpected comes up.

Rancho Santa Margarita cat sitting rates will vary based on the sitter's experience and services, but the average price is $32.00. Prices depend on visit duration (20, 45, or 60 minutes) and whether you need drop-in visits or overnight stays.
Every cat sitter on Meowtel completes a background check. Ask your sitter about a free Meet & Greet so you (and your kitties!) can feel comfortable with your sitter before you leave.
Cats are territorial animals and don't do well in new environments. The presence of other cats, dogs, and even birds in kennels or animal hotels cause an immense amount of stress. This is why Meowtel was created, so tailored in-home care is brought to you.
We recommend booking daily visits to keep your cats in their routine and help minimize feline anxiety while you're away.
